1.5_2.0 map changes help

I'm very confused with the map now, hopefully someone smarter than me can explain.
Before: I plot a route, my ship follows the route, it's static.
Now: I plot a route, do a few jumps, go to map to verify upcoming scoopables, and bam, the route changes.
Why is it changing, is there a purpose? Is it recalculating based on fuel tank levels, and therefor recalculating if I scoop?
And is there an option to stop it?
I didn't see it in the changelog, but in my defense, it was a huge one.
Running 1.5

Route planning is bugged, I think. Quite often I'll plan a route and it shows just fine in the galaxy map, but back in the cockpit it doesn't exist. "Target next system in route" doesn't work and it doesn't show any selected system. Usually, if I return to the galaxy map and plot it again it'll work the second time.

Occasionally it also "forgets" my route and I have to replot.

This is on 2.0

Are you still getting those? I haven't had a bug like that for 2 weeks now, but the replotting is still occurring.

I plot 500 LY at a time, and so far it has been fine, never the less I write down my destination on good old paper in case I log off or ED loses my route. It is very annoying but I prefer this to constant crashing.

For the vast majority of time in Horizons route plotting works fine (I try and plot close to 1000LY)...but every now and again it does something annoying like making me click on the next star in the route to select it (most of the time it auto-selects it when I enter the galaxy map). Nothing major but a little annoying.

It never used to do that, and I find it quite annoying. I used to be able to look at the galmap while scanning something and now I can't any more as the next system in my route will be selected and the scan won't have completed.

Route plotter will now recalculate on the fly based on your ship's current range - which changes with your fuel levels. It will also automatically re-plot if you switch between fast and economic without you having to re-plot. All this is fine, I just wish they gave us manual plotting (not just for one jump) and filter-based plotting (whenever possible, plot a route using only star types selected in the filters). But for FD basic stuff like personal bookmarks (and conda skins, for great justice!) seem to be projects of insurmountable complexity, so..

The annoying one for me is I plot a route to a station a few jumps ahead, but sometimes when I drop into the destination system it has forgotten the destination station. Could be disaster if I get interdicted when that happens.

Triple thumbs up on manual plotting - and, we should be able to save routes and see our route history.

Grrrr this one makes me nuts; happening since about 1.3. I have tried backing the way out (instead of 'Exit,' doing Back-Back-exit) and also 'Exit' from the system screen. On both, it works MOST of the time.... but relapses just enough to make me grrr.

It's a given that all explorers would like there route map saved from one session to another...

That'd be vital with manual plotting otherwise you end up sitting down carefully plotting an 800ly route taking in dozens of carefully selected systems and then *bam* some RL emergency means you have to quit and you vow never to use that feature again...

I get this too - I think it's related to the replotting. Specifically, I think this happens:
- start jump to next plotted system (let's say SysA)
- check galaxy map
- route gets replotted, and changes what my next system should be (to SysB)
- I'm still jumping to SysA, and arrive there
- because I'm not following current plotted route and I'm not at SysB it assumes I made a manual jump and plotted route is forgotten

If I manage to resist urge to check galaxy map whilst jumping (and it is apparently quite a strong urge for me!), I don't seem to have problems with it forgetting. YMMV.

agreed Cmdr...I didn't mean exclusively manual. But the option to do manual or auto would be great!

How sure are you of this? It certainly isn't something I've noticed, out in the black.

I have a 37.26LY range ASP. The route-planner has never jumped further than 31LY, irrespective of my "instantaneous range" (which is of course a function of the fuel I have on-board).

If I set a long-distance route (say 1000LY) with a full tank (with range of 30.98LY), the number of jumps never reduces (as might be expected when the tank empties and the range increases). If I stop mid-way and force the route to recalculate, it still shows the same route, and despite a higher instantaneous range, still returns with the same number of jumps. Even more telling, if I select a system at say 34LY directly, I can jump to it. If I want the "fastest route", it requires two jumps.

I suspect my "worst case" jump range (30.98LY fully loaded with fuel) and the largest jump using the route planner (never more than 31LY) are very much connected. FD really need to put some effort into sorting this out. I have 7LY of untapped jump that even a very basic route calculator should be able to exploit.

I reported this as a "bug" a while back - as far as I can see, it persists:
