1.6.1 Return to the Old Concrete Ground Texture

I didn’t really know where to post this in the forums, so I hope this is the right place [happy]

After the 1.6.1 update which speedily came along from the devs, I have noticed that the concrete ground texture that came with 1.6 (and was used by many in the community to fill in spaces between paths) has been replaced by a darker, almost asphalt texture that makes it almost pointless to use.

It was this texture that allowed large, flowing path networks to work, especially working with terrain. Before the update, it let my park flow nicely like this:

It seems like an unnecessary change in the update and takes away one of the most important features of the 1.6 update especially when creating realistic parks. I would love to see the ground texture return to its original colour or, preferably, be replaced by a texture that is identical to the light concrete path. It’s amazing how much a small texture can revolutionise the game!

Can I ask how are you achieving the light concrete plaza areas path? I don't see that as an option for normal paths, only queues. So is this a big queue you're using as normal paths? Or is there some trick I don't know about for making light concrete normal paths?

Edit - obviously you are using the "rustic gravel path". Okay, so it sounds like you want concrete to look like rustic gravel! Probably wishful thinking, although I can understand your pain if you got away with the two looking similar before and then along comes an update to spoil your party.

Sorry Redrum I forgot the name of the path, although I don’t think it’s completley wishful thinking because the texture they had before was almost perfect, it would only require undoing the changes made to that texture or making this new concrete texture a few shades lighter and closer to the path colour. It’s too close in colouration to the other ground types to really warrant its necessity while being that dark.

I know a couple of youtubers have complained about this same problem such as Geekism and MaskedBandit, both of them saying that the other textures that came with the 1.6.1 update are a big improvement but the concrete, which had been incredibly useful, seems to be the one gone wrong. To quote Jonti (Geekism): It’s a case of one step forward, two steps back.
 
Yeh I completely agree the concrete is too dark. Even when observed under direct midday sun in the game, it's on the darkish side. When in shadow like your picture it will look very dark! It should be similar tone to the building pieces 'smooth concrete wall" and the roof tile, which are lighter.

A quick google images search for concrete shows the vast majority of samples is much lighter. The exception is concrete that has been treated to be deliberately darker such as blended with charcoal.
 
They should make the concrete terrain paint have the same texture as the concrete paths so we can actually fill holes. With the 'old' texture the holes were still extremely noticeable, pair that with the fact that we cant have sharp edges on the terrain paints and they become almost useless, since you have to give up one of only 8 texture spots.
