1.7 & Horizons 2.2 ship comparison charts - spreadsheet style

Dropbox: truncated version

Hello Commanders,
I have compiled a couple of ship comparison charts with the intent to help select your next ship, for whatever activities you intend to use it. I have noticed that other comparison sheets are lacking IMO and most don't have the 2.2 ship specs anyway. For instance, who uses the second largest E shield anyway, it's ludicrous to put that spec on a comparison chart - same applies to thrusters and FSD. Please note that this is for comparison only, once you find a ship(s) that you think you want I strongly suggest you go to
ED Shipyard
and plug in your ultimate loadout, and then plan your purchase loadout there next. The "upgraded purchase cost" in my chart is more like what you really should expect to pay, plus weapons, if you really want to upgrade to that ship - I felt the default purchase prices were very unacceptable configurations, leaving you a vulnerable, weak sitting duck for pirates and gankers. I provide two charts, one with all the information which may be TMI for some commanders, and thus the truncated version without some of the least important information. The cells are shaded for easier reading. I think I have used the information from the aforementioned website for all the information, and certain statistics are derived from loadouts using the same configuration scheme on every different ship - some of these are explained in the notes at the bottom of the chart. I dropped the use of the old outdated 'maneuverability' number (was 0-10), in favor of the 'roll' speed specification on the truncated chart, and the other chart has all three: pitch, roll, and yaw. These numbers have been meticulously complied by taleden (here on these forums), assumably by buying each ship and procedurally timing each maneuver, he is the owner of the ED Shipyard website, the forum page is here,

Thread: Elite Shipyard

and I suggest you thank him not only for his work in determining ship maneuverability, but all the statistics and his website tool as well - which has been updated for 2.2 (1.7) and improved quite a bit too. My charts do not tell you which ships are better for carrying passengers. In the truncated chart I used only the 'roll' maneuverability speed, as I see it pretty much sums up the maneuverability of each ship - the pitch and yaw look to be very close to a certain percentage of roll. I used the largest optional internal cell possible for the shield, as I believe in using the best shield strength on all my non-mining non-cargo ships; along with using the smallest cell for a discovery scanner, to derive nearly all the information on my charts. Thus the "cargo capacity" is derived this way, but the "max. tons cargo" is the absolute maximum cargo configuration without shields or discovery scanner. So please make note of this and use the proper column for the configuration you desire. The detailed chart contains all the individual cargo ("optional") internal cell sizes.

One last word: these are intended to be used to compare a ship to other ships, to decide which one you want. Exact configurations are many, so your exact specifications may vary a bit, this the recommendation to try your configuration at ED Shipyard before committing to it.

Of course any of these numbers could be in error, so if you spot any that is definitely wrong please let me know so I can correct it - but remember if it is something like jump range or speed I may have compiled that number using a configuration that differs from yours.

EDIT 11/25/16: Found error in Cobra III: actual has 2 medium and 2 small hardpoints (as opposed to 4 small). Haven't updated the links.

Modified OP to reflect spreadsheet style. Thnx Bob. Unfortunately, it did not update the thread title.

Found error: Cobra III has 2 small and 2 medium hardpoints. Will correct & repost link if anybody requests.
