1 big jump instead of multiple small based on fuel tank

When not exploring/refueling/scanning full system, having to do multiple jumps between stars is not the most exciting part of the game.

For example, if my ship can jump 20ly and has a fuel tank allowing 5 jumps, I should be able jump from 1 star to another in only 1 shot if there is no more than 5 stars with max 20ly between them.

I think this is not impacting the game balance and let player to choose to do it or not.

oh no ... not another of these threads - come back FSS whiners all is forgiven.

But that is not how fuel consumption works in the game.

Simply pick a system that is close to your max range that you can reach in one jump, now if you change the plotting to economical, route, it will consume a considerably LESS fuel to travel the same distance, but at the cost of more jumps.

So your idea to take your current max jump range and simply multiply that with how many jumps you have fuel for, is flawed from the beginning. as the fuel cost will increase with longer jumps.

.... which could end up allowing ships to jump vast distances when in "economy" jump mode - with no risk at all on all intermediate jumps.

There is risk involved in the jump-align-jump-align-jump-align-jump-process? You are probably referring to the risk of falling asleep.

True. Even if we could spend our entire fuel tank on a single jump, based on the current rules we would probably empty it for a single 50% incresed range jump. Not sure if anyone would be happy with that.

It seems to me that the creator wants to automate the [drop out - re-align - Jump] until no fuel, with the attendant - oooh err nasty's causing the system to be interrupted for manual sorting -- or that is my reading of the problem. M

.... or the risk of being interdicted by ships loitering nearby the star waiting for new arrivals.

.... or the risk of being "cooked" between multiple stars in close proximity of the entry point.

I wouldn't mind it.
Doesn't sound op.
And makes extra fueltanks actually useful.

The jump should take a bit more time than a normal jump though(depending on jump distance). As to balance it out.

I'm sorry, but Quirium drives were lost about 200 years ago. We can't do that anymore.

Well work on engineering Then you can take that 5 jumps and make it 2 or 3 jumps.

Also your idea caters to Bots. If I reading your post right.

Ah, but there is real danger in that. I have been woken up by FSD throwing me into the face of a star once, after falling into the "just one more turn jump" syndrome. True story.
