David Braben just tweeted a message that confirmed the game has sold over 1.000.000 units right now :D

Congratulations to the whole frontier team on this amazing performance!

Congratulations to every member of the amazing team at Frontier Developments! Great to hear that you've reached this incredible milestone! :kingcoaster:

Also a big thank you for the awesome community and players of Planet Coaster. It would not have been possible without you! :loonybloons:

Let's look forward to the next milestones of this amazing game!

I honestly am shocked it took this long, I thought for sure PC sold 1 million in pre-orders alone. But this makes it seem as though its not doing very well. It started selling back in early 2016, and just now almost 18 months later it hit the 1 million mark?? According to wikipedia, Planet Coaster sold 400,000 units in its first month, does that include pre-orders because I don't consider that a good number. This game should have sold better than that :(

Im trying to find how many copies RCT3 sold, not sure if what Im reading is accurate but it says over 10 million, obviously its a much older game but I doubt anybody is still buying it these days. I just wonder if PC will ever reach 10 mil (seems like they have a lot of work to reach that milestone) also consider that rct3 was a heavily pirated game and sold poorly in its first 2 years due to performance issues, whereas PC has denuvo

I think a big factor will be what sort of add-ons are released, aside from the microtransaction based scenery packs. Soaked + Wild were very popular!

Steamspy reports around 850k sold copies of RCT3 Platinum. Of course, many of the total sold copies are not on steam.

Steam only sells platinum.
many of the total sold copies are not on steam.

why are you hung up on steam sales bro? you already stated that steam is not the only way to buy the game [wacky]

also consider that rct3 was a heavily pirated game, where as PC has denuvo

In June 2015, Frontier CEO David Braben reported that the game (RCT3) had sold "almost 10 million copies".[22]

It is intereting to see RCT 3 still manages to get around 20% of PCs player base.

"Actually, whats important is the number of people actually playing, which is far lower than current sales."

Which is true of any game. [rolleyes]

Would you like to compare PC to "any game" like GTA5 or call of duty?

True. It is intereting to see RCT 3 still manages to get around 20% of PCs player base.

oh bitter... [tongue] RCT3 gets 20% compared to PC, but that does not include non-steam players, or RCT classic or RCT2... why do people still play the originals? Because they have things PC lacks

I'm sure that the main reason for people still playing those original games is because they enjoy playing those games. The original RCT, RCT2 and RCT3 were and still are great games. Classic, but still great in providing many hours of fun.

Sure, they have features that Planet Coaster does not have, but on the other hand Planet Coaster has many features that those classic games do not have. :)

That's good to here! 1 million is a big milestone, I just thought it was higher considering all the content we have for the game on youtube. I know certain features of RCT2 (more specifically OpenRCT2) probably wouldn't work in the current engine for PC, but I really hope to see PC hit 10 mil someday and surpass rct3 [yesnod]
