As the venerable T.J pointed out to me earlier, 10 years ago today was the official launch of the game into Gamma, and the launch event.
I managed to play for about an hour or so before I had to leave to make it to the event. A few people could barely even stand up straight at the hotel bar nearby before the event started, not mentioning Slopey's name or anything
It was my first time meeting lots of these lovely people, some of whom I've gone on to become good friends with. It was the first time Frontier laid on a free bar at an event for us, and quite frankly I'm amazed that they carried on doing it considering how much T.J got through by himself And when we as a community came together to raise money for a couple of different charities in Frontier's name, it was the first time I'd heard of SpecialEffect, who I am proud to still be helping out to this day.
A lot of fun was had that evening, and at the many events that have followed whether they were official or fan created.
