100 million credits burning a hole in my pocket

A while ago I sold my AspX and FDL and used the proceeds, plus most of my cash, to buy an A rated Python, which I'm very happy with (even more so with some engineering). I kept hold of my DBX, Imperial Eagle and Dolphin.

Some game hours later I have 100 million in my account and I'd like to expand my fleet, but for the first time, I don't know which ship I want next.

So, any suggestions? I have no specific plans for a new ship, other than to fly something different and have fun. Should I sell the Dolphin and try an Orca? I only need a little more rank to unlock the Federal Assault ship, so that's on the table. I could even get two or three smaller ships.

What would you do, if you had the four ships above and 100 million in cash?

I'm quite partial to the Imperial Courier (if you have the rank).

Very fast, especially with engineering, decent hard points and very strong shields for its size.

I keep an Asp, python and FDL at all my HQs all useful. Then for specifics, a dbx for getting about. The three big ships because, and an extra Cutter for trade.

Yeh shes an awsome little machine although once them shields go down you either use that speed or be shredded in a couple of hits. The courier loves lightweight mods, every ton counts.

I would buy the Orca for sure, but KEEP the Dolphin! They are complimentary ships.

If you engineer up the Orca's FSD to the highest range you can, equip it with 4 First Class/Luxury passenger cabins, and then focus on "VIP Passenger Transport" missions at your nearest ALLIED Starport, that ship will pay for itself literally in under 2 hours.

(I own all of the most popular ships in the game, but none of them have made me the kind of $$ that the Orca has. 95% of my 4.8 BILLION CR of liquid assets were earned using that one ship! No other ship in my personal fleet comes close. Including my PowerPlay hauler, the Imperial Cutter)

This is the one Imperial ship I might be tempted by. I'm an Outsider but I have some points towards the next level, so unlocking it seems like it wouldn't take much effort. The speed does appeal, plus it looks so damn cool.

Thanks, good advice. The Dolphin is quite cheap so I suppose selling it wouldn't even unlock that much capital.

I've made the bulk of my money in this game from passenger runs, so I do see myself as an experienced passenger liner pilot. Getting an Orca would certainly make sense in RP terms.

Lighten up everything you can engineer, weight kills couriers :) ... the ranks for the early ships dont take long and the courier has saved me from many a gank wing flying meta fdls

Depends on what you want to do. A FAS would be a good option if you want a combat ship, personally I love the FAS, it's a fast, agile tank that packs a big punch. Plus you'll spec it out for 80m credits and have enough for your rebuys.

Or you could trade your Python in and get a Conda that you could trade in and keep making the credz that way.

Or you could have some fun in some smaller ships; Vulture, Courier, DBS etc all of which can be used in PvP and are cheap so you can fly in Open without worrying about eating rebuys until you have bank.

No problemo! :D

If you focus on only those highly lucrative VIP Passenger Transport missions, you will be amazed at how much $$ you can pull down in just one session. You will likely need to do some mode switching to get access to the most high paying versions in the shortest amount of time, but it is definitely worth it!

A few nights ago, I did a run of stacked VIPs that paid between 12 and 15 million each. Two of the missions went to the same Starport, so when all was said and done, I came away with 51 MILLION CR in just under 15 minutes from departure to the last drop. :D

This is obviously a best case scenario, but even an average run of stacked VIPs will net you over 25 Million.

Last but not least... DO NOT waste your time with the Beluga! That ship is not worth the cost, and its mediocre max jump range even when fully engineered can't touch the Orca when it comes to providing the most cost effective passenger liner in the game. (My Orca's unlaiden jump range is 55.7Ly)

For now, the Orca holds that crown and nothing else in the game comes close.

I think I'm going to hold off on an Anaconda until I can fully A rate one, even though I probably don't need to for a usable build. I guess partly just to save something for later in the game.

The other two ideas are both very tempting. I do like the look of the FAS a lot. But the idea of a combat ship that can hit hard but still has a low rebuy is very appealing too. I had a Vulture before, but that was when the 1 million rebuy was a lot to me. Plus it wasn't engineered at all, so it'd be cool to fly an modded one.

Modded vultures are a thing of beauty, i flew one for ages before i moved into the courier.... pack in a couple of advanced plasma accelerators and go hunting. Engineered it has better hull armour than a stock conda and the shielding can take some beating depending on the setup. The only issue the vulture had was powerplant related, engineers sort of fixed it but placement of it will always be an issue.

Blimey, I've picked up a few transport missions for 5 mil here and there, but never that much. I'm allied with my home port but I'm starting to realise it's not a great home - too few factions and probably the wrong system type.

I get all of mine from Medupe City in Cubeo. This is the home system of Aisling Duval and my PowerPlay HQ already, so I just starting taking these from Medupe, and it turns out that this port offers some pretty impressive VIP payouts. :)

I have also found high paying VIPs at some of our neighboring systems as well, including HIP 5623 and HIP 5700. I am allied with the factions/mission givers in these systems too, plus about half of them are mission givers from Cubeo. (Prismatic Imperium for example)

It definitely pays to track down a good Starport as your base of Passenger Mission operations. You can also try a few of the "Tourism" focused systems in your area of space if Cubeo is too far away for you.

Buy back the AspX and fit it with a type6 first class passenger cabin. Make vast money from allied factions on sightseeing and VIP transport.

I wouldn't sell ships in the future. They each have their purpose!
