1060 6GB VR

Hello CMDRs, new Pilot here been playing for about a week now. After countless hours of research and reviews I will probably be purchasing a CV1 friday and just wondering if anyone has any experience using the 1060 6gb. I see alot of 970/980/1070/1080 reviews but the 1060 is lacking.

Anyways current setup is:

i5 6600k
16gb RAM
1060 6GB

Any 1060 users feel free to comment! Thanks o7

Hi, pretty much the same setup but with ED installed to my SSD. I run HMD image quality at 1.00, Supersampling at 1.25 (just read they should be swapped so gonna try that today), ambient occlusion and shadows low, textures high and most everything else at medium - I use the basic FXAA rather than SMAA (but haven't really experimented with this).

This gives me silky smooth movements even in stations (was getting some juddering with SS at 1.5), tho just recently (post .03 patch), seems like the driving on planets has gotten less smooth (but that's on the ruins mission which seems slightly buggy anyway).

You're going to love this in VR! :)

Thanks for the reply CMDR! Makes me more excited to receive my headset. I have ED saved to my SSD as well so should be good.

I've got the basics down and the HOTAS/VoiceAttack setup just limiting my play time until the Rift comes in for the full immersion :)

Thanks for the reply CMDR! Makes me more excited for my Rift to get here. I have ED saved to my SSD as well so should be pretty good.

Have the basics down and the HOTAS/Voice attack set up, just limiting my playtime until the Rift comes in for the full immersion! :D

I'm playing on a laptop: i7 6700HQ, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060, and using a dodgy hack to get the PlayStation VR headset working. Overall it's "ok", but struggles in stations and RES sites. Certainly fine in space (120fps, probably 60x2 repro), so i'm happy enough.

The above is fantastic looking playing flat-screen, but VR has pretty much ruined that experience for me now, so I take the hit in resolution, fidelity and framerate and enjoy being immersed in space.

I run mine in High with a R9 290X

Seriously, the only thing that takes a second to load is that stations. Everything else is absolutely fine.

It can run Ultra as well but I get some small frame drops which I don't like and station stuttering takes longer.

I assume this is a graphics card thing and not a game thing because I wanted to upgrade my Gfx card soon so I can play in Ultra all the time.

Just a quick update, swapped the HMD / SS to 1.25 / 1. upped the shadows to medium and the AA was SMAA, not FXAA and still smooth movement in stations. Think I'm gonna try for high shadows next, the juddering was when I had SuperSampling at 1.50 (and only really noticeable in stations).
