So in today's stream this was shown:

Does that really mean we are getting 107 species in total? I can't believe this

Archaeornithomimus is confirmed, they SHOULD have 107 species now to make up for that puke-worthy dinosaur being added again.

I heard it was just 107 research things under Dinosaurs, not 107 species. 79 species sounds far more realistic in the base game sadly.

Yep. But on the bright side, that's still a really good number. More animals that were in the entire first game including its DLCs.

I thought it was already said that every single animal from first game would be in JWE2. It wouldn't make sense for Frontier to throw out models they have already worked on to replace them with another model. There were 68 dinosaurs in the first game. Huayangosaurus is included in the deluxe edition DLC. It's the only dinosaur from the first game that technically won't be in the game unless you preorder the deluxe edition or buy the upgrade on release. The model will be there in the files, but you will have to buy the deluxe edition upgrade to unlock it. That's how all of Frontiers extra content works.

I imagine they did this cause it's the least favorite dinosaur in the game out of all of them. Frontier supposedly has access to how many of each dinosaur were released in the game. Maybe at one point they were deciding to cut more but decided against it. But Huayangosaurus release numbers were so small they decided to not completely cut it but make it part of the deluxe edition DLC instead. Which is a good move for the small number of people that liked it. I think I had a few during my playthrough. I have nearly 400 hours in the game.

Also I still see people saying this dinosaur from the movies is confirmed and that dinosaur from the movies is confirmed. It's annoying cause everyone should know if it's in the movies it will be in the game without a doubt. The dinosaurs are like characters in the movies. It would be like having a Batman game with no Batman.

Stop defending laziness, this is JWE2 not JWE1 part two, it is far from logical to re-use everything from your old product and sell it as a new product...

I guess if you want to call all the hard work Frontier put into the new texture work on the dinosaurs, the remodeling, the new animations, the improved AI and even some new sounds lazy. I don't consider that lazy.

Not to mention all the work that went into the flying and aquatic reptiles we will be getting in JWE2.

JWE2 isn't about giving you new dinosaurs, which it does. It's about improving the game.

Thankfully Frontier doesn't listen to people like you and actually worked to improve the game instead of making sure everyone gets their favorite obscure dinosaur.

Lol, keep calling Therizinosaurus obscure for me, it makes me giggle.

And you obvisiously don’t get my point, that is fine.

Improving the game would be adding dinosaurs that people ask for, and removing the ones that are in all the most hated/boring lists.

It looks like the Secret's of Dr. Wu hybrids are the only cuts.

Mind you, I have doubts they're permanent cuts, coming back in DLC seems fairly likely seeing Huayangosaurus is in Deluxe (could be a hybrid focused DLC, but I think scattering between a few is more likely).

So it turned out the 107 in that screen didn't indicate the number of individual species (unfortunately), but something else. I guess this thread can be closed then
