1070 vs 980

Well, with the video card wasteland that exists now, i cant get the 1080ti i had my eyes on for elite.(yet)
One day they were there the next, poof, gone. they don't seem to wiling to restock and the ones that are out there are too high priced for anyone in their right mind to buy. It just as easy to buy a titan from nvidia for 1200 then get a 1080ti for 1600.

I do have a friend who is willing to lend me a 1070 for now. I know right.
Just wondering if ill see a difference with the 1070 over the 980 in terms of quality of image.
Right now its pretty well set at low so i can have the frame rates and not the nausea.

Given that the GTX 1060, on average, is within 5% of the performance of a GTX 980....

The 1070 will actually stomp all over it.

No difference in image quality (assuming you keep the same settings), but you should see approx a 30-40% increase in framerates. The 1070 is around the same performance as a 980ti and generally accepted to have slightly better vr performance.

Thanks guys, I put it in last night and right now its not much of a boost.At least not in elite. Other games mostly run at 90, But elite is a beast on cards.
Going to try some settings changes to see what happens

Could always up the supersampling and have a sharper image at the same performance as before. That setting only increases the gpu workload.
