12.5K Fine for hauling Washing Machines and Toasters???

Yup:D

Picked up a hauling 12 Units of Domestic Appliances mission then a separate data delivery side mission.
As the Data delivery was on the way to the housewives waiting for their new dishwashers ... I went there first...
Docked at the Data hand-in dock, was scanned and then fined for "Illicit Goods" ...???? ILLICT GOODS ???? [woah] Domestic appliances in a Corporate????

Really??

(I do like to break up the fast paced life in Elite Dangerous with the occasional "mundane" delivery mission...but it seems even these are becoming edgy and laced with hidden danger :p)

Reducing the time spent in the kitchen or washing clothes is a bannable offense!
The government will not have people with time to think over the regime! :D

If you had some other material it may have set off the illicit goods on scan, I've never seen domestic appliances as forbidden materials. You should have had a display on your left hand status board indicating "illicit goods" as a warning.

Also you can sneak in through security, avoiding the scans and then sell or deliver the goods w/o penalty.

Thanks for comment...but I had absolutely nothing onboard other than the Domestic Appliances and the data..... I'm a good boy and don't do naughty things ......:p
I had no warning on the right on entry to system re: Illicit Goods...... but in all honesty I "might" have missed such because I never contravene....
What I did see/what happened is:
Evaded scan on inbound to station....usual quick zip in approach...no guilty silent running or such.[where is it]
Did my business with the data at the station then left...got scanned on way out...I then saw the "illicit goods" warning as it drew my attention when it popped up..[yesnod]
I'm not REALLY fussed by the fine, just a bit amused/perplexed is all.... thought I'd share. :D

Thanks and fly safe (and watch out for those bitter and twisted haters of innocent kitchenalia) o7

Edit:[up] Thanks for comments..made me chuckle....rep all round o7

Did you get something as a reward for the washing machines perchance? Something maybe a bit, well erm, hot, like battle weapons or some such crap?

I had something similar happen, some systems have some very surprising restrictions on goods...
In a sense this should be a matter of 'you should always check' but that is a bit more of a hassle than it should be and for something like Domestic Appliance you just wouldn't expect it.
Personally I'd say a nice clear warning that the goods are considered illicit in the target system or at the target station would be more than reasonable. A warning they are considered illicit locally would perhaps also be in order.

You probably got the fine from the Husbands of the Wives TBH, "What do you need a labour saving device for? Get back down the canal and get my laundry done!"

You'll always get an indication if goods are illicit somewhere in a system while you are charging your FSD. Center of the HUD where your status normally shows...

You'll only get the illicit cargo warning above the fuel gauge if something is prohibited by the controlling faction, but in may places certain goods will be allowed by them, but prohibited by another faction and thus illicit only while you are in their jurisdiction so the illicit cargo warning will appear only when you drop out at their station. The opposite is also true, that in some systems a commodity is prohibited by the controlling faction, but allowed by another faction, in which case the illicit cargo warning will show while you are in supercruise but will disappear when you drop out into that faction's space.

Nope! Delivered the domestic appliances last...got the fine at the previous (data delivery) station on the way to final delivery destination.

WOW! or what........

Perhaps those 'domestic appliances' were of the battery driven variety, and some pious stuffed shirt took offense at you hauling such undignified and morally questionable cargo? :D

Consumer technology is illegal in theocracies and prison colonies. I've never heard of domestic appliances being illegal anywhere. Though there are some unusual things that are illegal, such as Volkab bee drones in Jaques.
