.
Well I suppose, this is my ship, eh?
.
The Dockmaster tosses over a nonchalant look with a shrug "You best get out of here in time or it'll be your last." and carries on his way.
.
"Hmmm" I think to myself. The controls seem comfortable, if not semi-familiar, let's get this rolling. Looking through the demands of this ****hole of a station there are no missives, there is not much at all. I glance down at the console and see my credit balance...
.
1000cr.
.
"Well at least I got a ship." I think to myself as I decide someone may need this unholy 4 ton cargo of fish before it goes bad. The ground crew loads it up. and as they finish, a klaxon comes across my comms along with an all to soothing voice "2 minutes left, please clear your docking area." With a grumble and a mutter I pull the Sidewinder up, doing my best to make my way out of the station. I have to be honest, there was a bit of bouncing about, I got hollered at by some pilot for a near miss, but soon it was just as I remembered...
.
Space.
.
Fumbling my way through the Nav map, I found a system. They were Industrial, I was leaving a place that made food. Seemed reasonable and it was within my jump distance. Off I went.
.
Landing wasn't 'that' bad, but I got there and sold my goods for a nice profit, several hundred credits. Turns out the workers were hungry!
.
Feeling good, I grabbed some items from this Industrious joint and headed to the next system, more profit! Sheesh, this is easy, I thought to myself, as visions of a new ship, bigger cargo holds and bigger guns were just within my reach!
.
Arriving at my next stop, I filled my cargo hold, as meager as it was, but I could see the profit potential. Then I looked at what they had... well cripes, anything to make any credits had to be to a Refining type system. Common sense, they got metals and minerals, someone had to make them into something.....So I opened my nav panel and looked around. The local systems, but where I came from, had no interest in what I bought. The next ones, I had no information....
.
Who knew. a couple of taps would mean so much.....
.
I didn't mean to look for trade data! I meant to see what was in the system! I get the information for the system, then realize... Click again...
.
Oh crap.

12 credits.
.
My tanks were full, my 4 ton cargo bay was full, I headed to a system I knew, in my range, and refilled, just as much as I could.
.
2 credits.
.
Looking at the Nav map again, I could make that refinery, just barely. With crossed fingers and a bit of resolve, the station came into view and profits came again.
.
A huge lesson learned, a break was needed... Whiskey never tasted so sweet, almost as sweet as having a ship back as my own. Again.
.

**Ended the night with just over 22k credits, just doing the Space Trucker. Some may laugh at that, but I had a BLAST and learned so much!! To go from "F-it, maybe delete and start over" to "this is awesome" with just a bit of work, patience, and common sense, was amazing! Just what I had hoped. Thank you Devs for the server re-boot otherwise I may not have slept!
.
Thanks for reading my tale and Merry Christmas all!
