120 misions as squire

I have done 120 misions as squire rank, still no navy progression. All missions for empire faction.

Should I be getting the navy progression mission?

the elite dangerous gods where listening a couple more mission and I have now gained a ranking mission.

lol but the thought of doing it all again ..I decided I don't want a clipper that much. All that time wasted I could have earned a python

That's not true for everyone, I have found it relatively easy to rank up to Earl. You need to be allied to at least a few minor faction. I'm not sure if the system population size helps also.

This is simply not true anymore. Minor faction influence doesn't matter anymore. Now its just grind grind grind.

Well I'm now Marquis and I haven't had to do any grinding what so ever. All I know is that I was Allied with two minor faction in two systems close together. These were high population systems. I'm now considered friendly with the Empire. Plus I have all the permits.

Because patch 1.3 has made increasing your military rank with the Empire (and the Federation for that matter) so slow and difficult, Frontier Developments have temporarily reduced the requirement for being able to buy the Imperial Clipper to needing a minimum rank of Serf (i.e. the second lowest military rank in the Empire) (or at least that was the case when I last checked in-game).

Do missions for one minor faction in any one station at a time.

Take no missions that have a negative effect on any minor faction for the major faction you want ascension missions from.

Where possible take multiple missions, complete them and hand them in together (this seems to work for me - but it may just be that I am (n * +rep) away from next mission and handed in (> n) missions at once).

Take any faction aligned Charity missions you find (they don't cost much but they boost rep without negative risk).
