12h timelapse of a trinary star system

Its very cool that that happens in game, but a damn shame that we'll never see it in game.

Nice vid, sir.

Thanks guys. I'm learning video editing this semester so I'm getting a lot of footage of Elite and this timelapse was one of the things I wanted to try to make. Super easy to create since I don't even have to actually record any video for timelapses that are 1+ hour long. If I come by some compact orbits of numerous stars I'll make more videos. Hoping to come across two or more black holes that are very close to each other. Now if only FDev were to implement black hole accretion discs and siphoning with particles...

Nice. I too would like to see accretion discs sig06-014_Sm.jpg

Thats very cool mate, I have been meaning to do something like that just to see them actually move.
Have some rep.

I love this!

I love that we'll never see it in game, but that it's happening anyway.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think we will. Not exactly this, but this in a more general sense. We don't really see much of the movement of system objects because we're so busy traveling around at relativistic speeds. Even if we're planted somewhere like an RES, our orientation changes radically at a fairly frequent rate.

Once we are able to land on planets and have things to do, the slow and semi-realistic movement of system objects ought to become a little bit more noticeable. Cases where movement is too exaggerated would become more obvious, so I think ultimately it's a very good thing that you need a time lapse video to see stuff that you should need a time lapse video to see.
