12YRS old BGS'er (5k missions YTD) opinion about the new mission payouts...

..."dad, they are crap", she daid.

Arguments:

  • payouts for gold/palladium/silver were too high, that's true
  • payouts for gold/palladium/silver have been lowered...
  • ...but that change impacted all other mission deliveries, i.e. making industrial/agricultural systems worthless (she made exaple of superconductors paying 8-9 times lower)
  • she said number of interdictions is almost tripled (one mission to 25ly base, took 4 chain interdictions) not worth the effort/time
  • who does missions for BGS is not rewarded at all (she calculated a drop of her payout by about 1/4 with current rewards)

12yrs... 'nuff said.

She also said has to give a look at collect/delivey prohibited goods like narcotics and slaves, but she believes those could be worthless as well now.

Superconductors, mid-range metals, consumer technology are the ones taking a big hit here.

But arguably that's because those goods are underpriced anyway. The market rewrites may have been good for the mining vs bulk-trade balance when it comes to Extraction-economy goods which can also be mined ...

... but it's left the silly situation where Extraction exports are really valuable in almost all cases, and every other economy's exports for bulk trade are strictly worse (often, even with a favourable state)

This one should probably be fixed not by tweaking the mission deliveries directly again, but by raising the general trade prices of a nice selection of refined metals, foodstuffs, industrial and high-tech goods, etc. into the same range as things like Bertrandite, Silver, etc.

...and then the missions would pay out nicely in the 2-5M range where it's decent pay but not ridiculously excessive, from any economy. Even a month ago Industrial, Agricultural and Military economies gave out terrible delivery missions compared with Refinery, Extraction or High-Tech ... and Industrial is still a terrible economy to bulk trade out of in most cases.

Interesting. Before the recent boost ot mineral prices, i never cared much about delivery missions - because they were underpaid and generally less varied than supply missions.
So I always preferred to settle in industrial systems, not for their trade out (delivery) missions, but for their supply missions - they need resources from refinery/extraction, goods from high tech, foods and drinks from Agriculture.
That made out for a nice variety of supply missions from the surrounding systems and reasonable income once one could stack many missions and do them by source system (now i do supply foods/dtrinks, then i supply minerals/metals, then high tech goods and then repeat based on what other missions i was able to stack in the meantime)

Yeah, this is probably mostly a personal preference on my part - as my BGS studies generally mean visiting lots of systems and not returning to one I've already visited today, even low-paid delivery missions (still per-tonne much better than bulk trade though!) I tend to take, whereas source-and-return with just 24h to do it I tend to ignore.

Not yet checked about prohibited goods supply missions, but this morning she did a 90t gold supply mission (4.2m cr. cost) which was paying 9m @ cordial reputation... she bumped up to friendly with a donation and payout doubled to 18m cr. (gold was available one jump away, but she picked up some from our carrier in same system).

The bulk of hi-tech -> industrial supply missions she used to stack for better payouts (progenitor cells, performance enhancers) are much lower, as well as the refinery -> industrial for mid-range materials (superconductors, insulating membrane, uranium, tantalum).

She also said the "follow on" mission payouts dropped close to zero on almost every type of system/goods (besides these still offer high rep/inf rewards).

Well, source missions seem just fine?

Unlike deliveries, source missions deserve the cargo-value related payout, as you need to purchase the goods yourself.
