13000 + systems exploration data lost

Good luck Kenneth, I'm sorry to see a fellow explorer in such peril. Hopefully FD uncover some minor bug or glitch and restore your status, I'll keep checking back here with fingers crossed.

Dear Kenneth.
I somehow understand your problem. It may be due to some server/data problem. I personally dont care what systems I had visited and what systems I have tagged. I would happily offer all my first discoveries for improvements that the stellar forge may do to our galaxy. And I think we need some improvements. I wouldn`t even mind if we get a cleared new galaxy completely unexplored at all to get rid of all the little mistakes like beige planets and the sector differences in the skybox.

And I think you should not let this spoil your fun playing the game. I hope you did it for the experience you've had. The memories of all these wonderful journeys through the galaxy will be yours forever. And you've made these wonderful videos. Don't do it for the credits. Don't do it for the glory. Do it for the awe and the immersion and the fun.

So sorry to hear this has happened to somebody else :(

Happened to me when I was out at Beagle and 2.1 dropped;
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=260061&p=4020334#post4020334

I also contacted support and unfortunately, never did get a resolution [there was talk of a missed 'process' as one point, then wait for next patch and also talk to QA....but it all went quite and shrugs]. I did find I could sell all the data, but it made no difference to me being able to see the systems, which included my first undiscovered ELW. If it is any consolation, I revisited my ELW and found it was indeed tagged by me, yet I was able to sell the information *again*.

I see yours is slightly different because you can see the stars where as I couldn't even get the system map at all, so hopefully yours is rectifiable. Regardless, I'm pretty sure your tags will be safe. Good luck o7.

its only on some systems i can see the stars, most are locked out as unexplored - I am getting the same message from support, wait until 2.4...

I am away currently so I wont be back on until the weekend to check,.

I looked back via my screenshots and here's an oldie, not sure how far out it is but col 132 sounds local to the bubble

I'm about 15KLY out of the bubble and last night I noticed that the servers were a bit wonky. System honks would result in only seeing the main star on the system map initially and then when I returned to the cockpit after a few seconds I would get the notice of several items discovered, re-open system map and see it properly populated.

Not sure if it's related, but the servers were a bit off lately.

I checked one of my old systems that I tagged long ago just for fun that had 100 objects in it and all is well.

Hopefully it's just a server glitch that will resolve.

yeah ive had that before that's normally when the internet connection is suffering or the server is lagging, I usually get connection issue not long after that happens ^^

ive logged in a fair few times to double check but no luck so far =/ standard xbox cache reset too!

update for you all...

it would appear systems I have scanned the Tags are still present, bad news is everything pre 2.2 is undiscovered to me :O so in theory I could go and scan all my planets again and sell the data.

all we can work out is that an update patch must have bugged while installing and wiped my X-Box's local data with 0 entries, (2.2) as I have no systems from before then, oh and there is nothing they can do to restore it yay!.

so yeah... I wonder if 2.4 will wipe my systems from 2.2 - 2.4?

@ disorganise I assume your eggs box too?

I must be dense, did you never turn in the data until after 2.3 was released?

So 2.whatever -> 2.3 out in the black.
2.3, you return, you sell data, but everything from pre 2.3 is lost?

no I sold all my data, I have just lost all my data from GPP - 2.2 (approx. 2 years worth) from 2.2 onwards Its fine (until 2.4... we will see later)

all tags are there (on the random systems myself and support checked), but all the systems display as "unexplored" and I cant enter their system maps =/

I have seen this happen with my data too only to have it magically restored later. Try not to worry about it.
All the exploration data is stored on the server, hopefully support can restore your account access to it.

unfortunately not, & I quote the most important sentences

"Tags are stored server side, System maps / visited systems are all data which is cached locally, if your Xbox's local data becomes corrupt or cleared, it cannot be restored. We have asked that the way data is stored is changed but it is currently correct for how the game works, It's possible this data has been flushed as part of a system update or something similar, maybe a question for Xbox support"

[yesnod]

so yes all is lost into the void never to be returned unfortunately, if only we had EDSM on Xbox I could still relive all those LY I travelled, now its just a mystery even to me where I've been. :S
