1400 hours on Xbox and moving to PC.

As the title says; I'm buying a laptop hotas and VR this month. I originally bought the game from xbox marketplace out of curiosity back in 2015 and was blown away. After 25yrs of gaming I was so happy to find something new and unique. Just a masterpeice of a game. I racked up 1400 hours xbox and controller, playing almost every day. I stopped playing after the sketchy oddysey release and subsequent abandonment of the console platform. Sad times.

3 years later, I'm taking a big gamble that starting from scratch on PC isn't going to kill my love for the game. I can't beleive that I'm spending 3 grand just to play one game. It is good though.

Is there a way to migrate my save?

The only place I could set up for gaming is down the garden. It's a very well equipped workshop/office. But I will always play in the house if the space is available. Plus security isn't best for a permanent set up outside, it's insulated, heated but only when in use so also moisture etc. I think laptop is best so I can have a pop up gaming rig.

I'm getting a RTX4080 12gb laptop with cooling so I got high hopes for a decent experience. It doesn't have to impress anyone, it just needs to run at least as well as xbox. And vr obviously...

I have copied my Xbox commander to frontier, and have downloaded the game from the same page.
Does that now mean that if i purchase the game on steam that i will start from scratch?

you will not be able to use the frontier standalone launcher if you make a steam purchase you will have to load and run the game through them
in the meantime you should be able to link accounts and get your exisiting copy of the game running through the steam platform
only once you make a upgrade purchase will you have to run the game through them
if steam has issues you will not be able to play were as direct fd purchase holders still can so take that into consideration before making a purchase
