15 mill to haul 4300 gold - what if I keep the cargo ?

So, guys, I am looking at an ethical dilemma: I am in Colonia, and one station have a mission to haul 4300+ tones of Gold for some petty 15 millions... In Colonia the Gold is near 50k / tone, so the value of all cargo is over 200 ( !!!) millions. That is some 6-7 trips on my Cutter, for something I get for 45 tones of brome 🤣 🤣 🤣....

I wonder what kind of penalty - credits wise - I will get if I just drop all the cargo on my carrier instead ?

Anyone experimented this ? Last time when I "lost" a cargo was more than a year ago, and I remember the penalty was severe but by no means near to 200+ millions...

Anyone can, please, give me an ( updated) hint about this ?

Thanks in advance.

Good question, wonder what the penalty would be if it was a fine - 15 mil or the market value of all the gold?

I'm sure it would be profitable but let's be real, credits are virtually meaningless in ED. Faction reputation providing access to missions (something to do) is not at all meaningless. The more important question is how much reputation will you lose, and is it worth it?

I am at allied ++ stage with almost all factions in Colonia since there is my home for both accounts for over a year... ( less with Pirates factions, who just hate me 🤣 🤣 🤣) but I know, as a fact, 2-3 missions rise you back to "allied" from a potential downgrade to "friendly".

Sounds like a robust business model.

Two things spring to mind:
1. Can you unload Mission Cargo onto your carrier? You may only be able to steal one ship load.
2. I believe you can't sell it unless you abandon/fail the mission, at which point it becomes Stolen and can only be sold at a reduced price on the Black Market.

Curious to see how much money you can actually get away with

You can sell mission cargo to your carrier if it has a secure warehouse even before you abandon the mission.

seriously??
it tells you the penalty for failure in the mission.

that aside, it is for me anyway a common thing to do in order to steal from the big guys and sell to my black markets.
you cannot store mission goods on a carrier
they are always stolen, but once you either fail or abandon then its stolen only.
currently the black markets are broken and won't take stuff so its currently of no value.

the jist here is you can then also pay the fine if you want, if they own any stations you have to pay it to dock. there are ways though..
but when the bm is NOT BORKED, it gives the faction that owns the BM a very nice boost(if anarchy and depending on the goods)
as such is a large variation of a form of piracy that works well for the anarchy faction.
it was working when EDO was released, but has since been broken by some other patch..
I usually pay the fines because I am stealing from stations I also control and I like docking privileges and really can't be bothered to wipe the fines by other means, time wasted.
this is a form of TRADE but labeled piracy.

also, sorry for slightly off topic, but it took them 5 years to decide mission stacking was not right....
during all that time there were several threads about the missions, and they were fully aware
same for skimmers
