1st or 3rd?

In general, PC games tend to use first person while console games tend to use third person.

Think about the market they seem to be going for, and draw your conclusion.

I would very much doubt that we'll get 'over the shoulder' 3rd person camera. But 'selfie drone', well we already have that for our ship, so I would regard that as a likely yes.

We know legs are coming, just one question, 1st or 3rd person?
Many games let you switch between the two - Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, Space Engineers, etc. I normally stick to first person unless I want to take a selfie or use my character to help measure the scale of something.

However, if Tomb Raider games offered 1st person, I'd still play in 3rd person because of "reasons". :p

It'll be first person. Maybe you can walk around with an external camera on yourself, like in our ships, but the Elite games have always been conceptually first-person from the outset. Moving primarily to third person makes no thematic or logical sense.

Showing us characters walking in the trailer no more suggests walking in third person than any of the other trailers showing ships flying around suggested flying ships in third person.

Pesonally I can only play 1st person, I avoid all 3rd person only games.
I hope Legs is first person, happy if there is a option for 3rd but won't be using that view.

Whats your fav view?
The trailer is in 3rd person so it will be so!
Jokes aside I think it will be both.
Otherwise it will only be 1st because it currently is in 1st.

It specifically mentions first person in the release.

Exactly

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey marks the birth of a highly anticipated new era for the long running definitive space simulation, allowing players to touch down on countless new planets powered by stunning new tech, and explore with unrestricted freedom from a first-person, feet-on-the-ground perspective.
