1st Thargoid Hunt - Where they at?

Find the Acropolis or Vanguard the Aegis megaships. They (usually) give thargoid scout hunting missions, which have low target numbers and will help you get used to it before you tackle the big buggers.
Acropolis : Bhal

Plenty of NHSS in the Pleiades area, fair number still in Witch Head as well. If you are looking for mainly scouts (TL3 gets you a pair), be prepared to look around a lot, as they only come one or two to a system, higher threat levels are much more common.

However if you filter EDDB by station type megaship you get the locations as :
Acropolis Witch Head Sector DL-Y d17
Vanguard Witch Head Sector LC-V c210 (different on inara though)

Do they show up as a location on the Nav panel or do I need to use the FSS first?
The Witch Head systems do not seem as populated with NHSS as those in the Pleiades sectors. I am currently hunting Scouts (NHSS TL3) out of HR1183 (berthing @ Arc's Faith, a full service orbital) and HR 1185, both of which have major NHSS populations which also regenerate quickly. HR 1185 is also home to an Eagle Eye installation, which is worth a drive-by and you can try to understand the Unregistered Comm Beacon's hourly report, if not easily frustrated by poorly synthesized AI vocals. If you get bored with Thargoids there are pristine icy rings to mine and RES of various levels there and in other nearby systems. The mission boards seem boring but that's for you to decide.
Info about Eagis megaships is outdated, I think they don't give any missions at the moment as the infestation and incursion cycle has been stopped. Go to the Pleiades, I recommend Asterope and scan the nav beacon to get loads and loads of signal sources. Start with the Threat 5 ones.
I checked with Factabulous who's the go to guy for all things thargoid related. My info is out of date, the Aegis megaships respond to thargoid incursions which have stopped so they are currently no use to you for hunt missions.

Thanks much for taking the time to write this boss. This is exactly what I was looking for, since AX conflict zones aren't happening.
HR 1183 - Arc's Faith and lots of NHSS. I'm doing 3 and 4 threat levels.
