2.1 Bookmarks will fall flat on it's face without folders

We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks!
Ok, here's bookmarks
...
We want folders! We want folders! We want folders! We want folders!
Ok, here's folders
...
We want search functions! We want search functions! We want search functions!
...
Screw you!

:D

Ahem.

It's more a case of:

"We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks! We want bookmarks!"

"Ok, here's bookmarks in a minimum viable product state, missing essential features for their day to day use when more than a handful are created."

... (People see the shortcomings from a mile away)

"We want proper bookmarks! With similar features the Navigation ship panel does already have btw (filtering by type)."

I thought it was mentioned a while ago that we'd be able to filter and colour code different kinds of bookmarks but I can't find a source of that. :S
I to remember this. Think it was in one of their streams. If so then all this thread is so much hot air.

Colour code and filter is not enough. The bare minimum:

-folders
-search function
-categories
-add thumbnails
-add descriptions
-ability to synchronise between ED, Firefox, Chrome and all my mobile devices
-share and like feature
-follow my bookmark on twitter
-different font types and sizes
-...

In case you missed the sarcasm: I'm not serious.
In case you got the sarcasm: I still think Nutter is right.
In case you got both points: The thread title is still flame bait.

I didn't read the entire thread, but bear with me in case I repeat an idea already mentioned:

I strongly hope the bookmark lists will be stored locally. On the individual machine, in a clearly defined .XML file. Like, say, the HUD colors.
1. That'd make external tools for bookmark editing viable.
2. Bookmark sharing with others!
3. There would be no fairness/cheating issue. For the gameplay, there is no direct influence what your bookmarks are and where they
come from.
4. Route storage in the same manner!

That'd make me one happy explorer!

I never expected so much passion over bookmarks, awesome, I guess there are people that like to be organised and some that are no that bothered.

Either way, the requested feature as it stands as shown in the video is not fit for purpose IMHO

Lets see if it stays unfinished.

Interesting, isn't it? :)

Hopefully, someone in FDEV will notice your suggestion. If we are about to get (long awaited) bookmarks, I don't see reason why should they leave them half-baked, instead of creating fully fleshed out system which wouldn't need any further work during the lifetime of the game.

Finally a thread tha isn't completely destroyed from people that support every poor implementation in this game, and give the same excuses over and over again to cover up the numerous placeholders and unfinished stuff.
That can only mean that there is hope in this galaxy.

As soon as i heard about the bookmarks some things came to my mind and keep me happy.

Sideys are still cheap.
My second monitor works fine.
Notepad runs great with no lag and no bugs and fits perfectly in second monitor.
Most important THANK GOD copy/paste works in game.

I dont have that many bookmarks, like others do, but if i had bookmarks with proper filtering and a decent way to organize them, i would use them all the time.

In my view any programmer should be immediately put onto "The Grid" and be forced to battle his abomination of code as soon as any of the following circumstances apply :
1. Game will produce any list of places longer than one page without sorting / filing function.
2. Game will produce any list of items longer than one page without sorting / filing function.
3. Game will produce any list of quests longer than one page without sorting / filing function.
and so on, you get my drift.

I still ask myself, how in the world they could produce a game with 100 Billion star systems ( see #1) without an elaborate Captains log and bookmarking system.
It's the same dumb problem every time in nearly every game ( Elder Scrolls Inventory, anyone ?) and it's always the same solution, it can't be that hard to do ??

Modding is a godsend for Skyrim (Omnisiah bless the SkyUI mod for the inventory overhaul)

Here's my prediction... we won't need folders for bookmarks because there 'll be a max of 25 bookmarks anyway. :x

I want to kill you :D

Thanks for the chuckle repped you both

What makes you think there are no folders? Is it because you didn't see them? By that logic there are only a couple thousands stars in the entire universe because you cant see any of the others in the sky

Uum ...
... maybe the lack of an ingame trading tool in a trading game ?
... maybe the lack of a flight log in a game with gazillion stars ?
... maybe the lack of useful equipment sorting functions ?

Well, it would be nice to be positively surprised for once but ... there's this thing called sound reasoning :D

Nah, they didn't show them because they aren't in the game. I doubt it crossed anyone's mind. FDEV keeps making mistakes like that. I've thrown plenty of money at this game and I will carry on doing so because I like what they are trying to do, but when people start Imagineering what they will do it generally won't favour folder optimists such as yourself.

Love you

* fast forward to beta release...

The result.. it's not fit for purpose.. no way to sort, filter, group or store in 'folders'

Just a huge skip

Loads spreadsheet.... Oooh, sort filter, group... Copy Paste ho hum

Looks like you were correct I have to admit.

The system has some utility, but not as much as it could have.

Mind you, I'm not getting much trading or dog-fighting action from the spreadsheet.
