Engineers 2.1 is awesome - no-one bothers me!

900Ly worth of jumps since Engineers.
No interdictions or fights.
I have jumped around, cargo empty, wondering what to do next.
I ditched Powerplay faction just before patch and have no bounties. No wanted statuses.

Then I read the forums, decided my Python goes to hold and I will try the Cobra again. Lightened it :)
No fights yet. I think my combat rating stands at infrared scum.

I love the better gfx.
I love the radio chatter.
I love all the little things except all the missiongiverfaces are Spice-eating mutants.

Yep broadly the same experience here - and I'm loving being back in my Cobra, applied a nice paintjobby and am having a hoot zipping here aand about.

Just need to re-rate the beam lasers and the power plant - I'd forgotten they weren't 'top notch'.

They will be soon.

:D

Put 3 units of biowaste in your cargo holds and fly around a bit and see if you still manage to fly around without harassment!

I just mined for about 40 seconds before the Asteroid Cluster instance was filled with 5 or so allied NPC fighters and a whack of "Dangerous" level hostile NPCs (I am Novice ranked in Cobra MkIII) who removed my 4C shields instantly. Prior to 2.1 I could mine all three clusters in my home system and perhaps see two pirates or no pirates, but never did the instance turn into an all out war zone. Now they are all war zone, all the time.

Mining has been ruined, because even with a handful of "allied" NPCs fighting the hostile NPCs, you're forced to stop mining and move/jump away so often that you don't have any time for your drones to collect what you've mined.

That said, super cruising around without any bounties on you and without any cargo is nicely quiet most of the time.

I get plenty Interdictions but few I can evade. The last one I won as the graphics could not keep up after changing to Bloom=High. Perhaps it needs the Shaders redrawn on next startup but not much bother even whilst I scoop Mats in LowRES. HiRES is rock hard if you haven't backup from Security or Wings.

No-one bothers me

It does seem very orientated towards forcing people fly small ships.
I have been all over the place in 2.1 in a Cobra, iCourier and ViperIV with no hassle, but when I left my home base in an 500mCr Anaconda it was literally only one minute before it was unavoidably interdicted, shields stripped and hull to 60%
Limped back to the station to face a 400kCr repair bill.
My Corvette is definitely staying put for now.

Luckily I really enjoy flying the CobraIII. It's what has kept me playing after 18 months. But the option to fly the bigger ships would be nice.

I guess I've been lucky then as I have also done quite a few 'big ticket' missions, I stacked some them too, in my Python, and I've only had a couple of close calls... mind you, they were very close calls, and my combat rank is pretty low.

No rebuy yet, but I was down to 5% hull on one trip... so, not such a big profit that time!

I guess I too have been lucky as I am doing missions with cargo, plus the 8 odd tons of Meta-Alloys and some sundry other Mod commodities in my 'Conda. This includes the run to Maia and back to get the alloys. Not a single interdiction.
The only fights I have been in are the ones I start in Res zones.

From the above, looks as though I shall have to be more careful!

Edit - I am not PP pledged which from below looks like makes a big difference!

You have to stay in system for a minute or two for the ships to move behind you and interdict, but yes its not as bad as some over exagarate.

I noticed since beta that being pledged to power is going to increase the chances that your ship will be destroyed. Power play agents are everywhere now. About 98% of interdictions are PP agents, they are now in RES sites in wings fully modded up and will attack you on sight, and they are at nav beacons. Personally I think it is a bit over top and have been considering unpledging just the stop the constant harassment.

My little story from a session last night.

The first session I had prior to last night I did a mission in my ASP delivering some stuff to Bast with no issue. So the story picks up outside Bast station where I was scanning high wakes....

Got the wake scan Mats I need, what now. Think I'll just jump back to my current 'home' and maybe dust off my Clipper? 4 Jump course plotted, lets go.
Well, that's the first couple of jumps fine though some dead systems. Just 2 more to go.

Next system, whoa! there's a ship on my tail already! He wants what I have got? I don't remember having any cargo. Oh, looks like this is an Anarchy system so anything goes I suppose. Ok, I'll submit and see what happens. Diamond Back Scout...shouldn't be too bad, urm shields going down quick, are those missiles? Ok, I got a few shots back but this guy is out flying and out shooting me big time. He's showing as dangerous, time for me to high wake...

Wow, made it out with 37% hull and various systems knackered. Oh, hang on, it seems I have several rare commodities that I forgot I loaded at Bast. Stupid me for plotting a route through an Anarchy system! Well I'm in a High Sec system now so should be safe.

I made it back to the station with no further hassle. I later went on to do a black box recovery mission which had me tussling with a couple of Competant smaller ships which I had better luck with (along with a bit of help form local police on one occasion).

I loved the possibility that because I hit an Anarchy system with rare cargo ED may have spawned a higher level ship and obviously being Anarchy no help was coming. The mission I took only spawned competent ships so maybe it was a mid level mission. They were still a bit of a handful but I felt I could handle it. I certainly need to work on my Pip management and flying techniques more now.

I need to do some further play testing but maybe its just a case of paying more attention to where you are, what you are carrying and what level missions you are doing. It was a great session and felt like I had to start thinking what I was doing rather than blindly going in and just blasting my way out of trouble.

Is the forum linked to the RNG???! (joke)
No sooner than I write my previous post I am on a harmless Data boom mission to acquire another unit of Core Dynamics Composites. Interdicted by 'Conda. Decide that fleeing is the better option as have 4 pips on Systems and he isn't even turning my outer shield ring even slightly red. Security show up. Lots of encouraging messages but clearly decide to ignore him as seconds later they are gone and he is still on my tail. (I didn't high wake because the security showed up so was proceed on-mission and trying to get out of his mass-lock)
Anyway. Re-interdicted. Decided to kill him. Dropped his shields. Looking good. Suddenly not looking good - shields disappeared, followed by the rest of me. Not only a 14+mcr rebuy but loss of meta alloys and other sundries. About 15M all told.
Tried again from rebuy port. Smooth as, no hassle. Incredible reward of 100K Cr plus that CD composite.
Can't help but feel my return on investment is not good!

Still and all......so long as that doesn't happen too often I still prefer it! (Note I am talking about AI and not opening another thread on Engineer mod RNGs!)

I think excessive FSD radiation has caused some serious skin cancer issues in the future. :p
I'm really glad my cockpit doesn't have any mirrors. I'd hate to see what my cmdr looks like.
