2.1 Weapon Visual Effects

I dunno about you guys, but I"m looking forward to the new weapon effects. It's about time that class 3 lasers looked different than class 1s. Same with Multicannons and PAs, and even rail guns. I just hope they aren't over done and super flashy.

I'm not sure if they've also adjusted the sounds or not, but that would be a nice addition as well. There's been a lot of discussion in the past about this already in regards to cannons and multicannons.

It might just be cosmetic but additional feedback in the form of visual and audio is a good thing. I mean afterall it's one of the things we all like (I think we all like) the wonderfully awesome engine sounds that are very unique for each ship. If weapons were like that too... awesome!
 
Huge beam lasers looks garbage. It has recoil, yet it is a LASER of LIGHT with very very very little mass. And the animation isn't even anywhere near "decent". The whole weapon recoils when only quartets actually fire. I'd prefer no recoil and, if they MUST put it in, make each part of the beam laser cannons recoil, not the whole module.

I am glad we have gone back to the Coloured lasers of FE2

Looking forward to viewing a Conflict Zone from a Safe distance

I think someone mentioned the recoil was a bug due to the weapon animation switching when changing which section is firing.

Don't think recoil will be the case, but we'll see tomorrow. Literally the first thing I'll be doing it mounting one on my FdL.

As long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to modify weapon colour in the lite-brite range, sure.

I still think C3 weapons, especially lasers, need to sound punchier than they do.

I do hope it's a "bug" (the out of sequence animation is jarring compared to the firing so maybe it is) and not the "we did something cool; why are you laughing? toaaaaatally a bug - we'll fix it in beta" type response. Because sometimes that happens too. ;)

Having said that, so many things to test! It shall be glorious. I am excite.

It's not a 'recoil' anyway - the animation is way to slow for it! No, this is a motor-driven movement.

I imagine the movement as a way to replace a heat-gathering cartouche with an "empty" (=cold) one to get rid of the fast accumulating excessive heat. The used cartouche will be stored for a while to cool down and used again when it is cold. A little bit like an internal heat-sink recycling.
