2.2 is rather a disappointment

Well, i was excited for the new update. Just logged on. But you guys already ticked me off to the point i dont even care to try out the new features. You guys took away a certain element of the game, that WASNT HURTING ANYONE!!!! You know, Ceos, Sothis, Aditi.... Oh wow, some of the guys and gals who didnt learn about them in time before griding hundreds of hours to buy an Andaconda were a little mad and upset, and you couldnt just leave it with the option of UA bombing, I mean that balanced it out pretty well because it renders a star port pretty much useless. There was honestly nothing wrong with the LRM's. You stooped pretty low Frontier. You catered to a smaller minority of people who were whining, when the other 75% of us loved it. Thanks for ruining my excitement for 2.2.

I came from xbox one, just bought Elite for PC a few days ago when i bought a T.Flight/HOTAS. I needed those LRMs to span the gap to that of my Xbox Profile. I regret buying it for PC now, because i have to put in months of playing just to get back to where i was. I work full time, i dont have the time to do all of that grinding, and i dont think the cost to benefit ratio here is sufficent.

Lets be honest here. 2.2 feels beneficial only to those who were financially well off before tte update, and from an experienced, long time player of Elite: Dangerous, the hopes of being able to enjoy this game on PC greatly diminished.

Yeah, Im going to go ahead and say it.

This is completely unfair and uncalled for.

Not fair to label the entire update a disappointment. There are many many many improvements (and some side grades - the new jump info seems scattered into 4 places, why??!!?). I agree the nerf to long distance hauling was not needed, and extending it to every delivery or data mission is just nuts, but I look at that as a bug that will hopefully get fixed soon.

2.2 is great and the Sothis exploit has finally be corrected. There is still good money to be made from Sothis, but not insane money. I did a Sothis run in 2.2 (with a 400 ton cargo capacity) and it still netted around 12 million. That I find more reasonable than the 35 to 50 million achievable before.

Agreed 100% with the OP.

I have negative desire to engage in the kind of grinding that Frontier seems to think is necessary to progress in this game. The reason Sothis and friends were so valuable is that they allow you to bypass the grind and actually make tangible progress of some kind.

Sothis itself is a sort of grind, but it's over rather quickly, and there's a definite sense of progress being made towards your next ship or your next module.

"Damn, I barely got out of that last interdiction alive. It's going to take me millions to get my shields to a workable level.. or maybe I should upgrade the thrusters instead.. well ether way, let me do a long haul and then I'll reevaluate."

Bashing out one of those and then upgrading a module or two, crossing out one more thing on the Coriolis retrofit list - that was satisfying. Now? The time investment has tripled, if not more.

That sense of meaningful progression? Gone. Replaced with more grind with no real sense of what is going to get me closer to my goals.

Really? You are judging the entire patch based on that?
I agree those missions should have been left alone but there are other ways to make money pretty quickly.

That sounds reasonable - how long did it take you?

Did they nerf places like Maia to? At least that has a draw of aliens and the engineer but I can't see any use in going to Sothis/Ceos for anything.

I disagree. 2.2 is the best point update yet.

You know, you could go and look for other lucrative ways to make money in game... or not.

Oh that must be very easy for you to say sitting in your Andaconda and your vast amounts of credits and fleet occupying space in Star Ports. Go ahead and start a new profile on Elite. Start from a new commander prospective with your experinece in this game. Its not just the LRMs. Its all missions, unnecessarily nerfed, and for what?

oh yes, please tell me how am i to adapt and overcome?

Sorry you are unhappy CMDR. am sure the next money printer will be found soon.

personally i have "just" 33 million in the bank. No billionaire here.

PS i did a semi restart a few months ago... no cash cow long range trades, just in a quite part of space with no rep, 100 credits and an imperial eagle E rated.

within 1 play session i had A rated DB scout, 2 play sessions A rated Asp Scout and this was without selling my old ships

and within a week was "richish" again.

there are currently issues with the delivery missions in 2.2, as confirmed by the devs who are working on it.

I don't know what this mean - progress? How are you progressing in a game with no goals and just missions to do? You should have tried playing it on launch day - 150 (yes you read that right) for delivery missions, maybe 7k for a Elite AI pirate. Where making 1000 cr per trip when trading was considered pretty good. I think payouts have gone up 10 times from what they used to be - could you even imagine the game with 10 times more grind than it has now?

It becomes obvious now that I write this why so many people left the game.

Its really not just the LRMs. Im a very experienced cmdr, with almost 2 years in this from the Xbox GPP. Even the normal, in-bubble missions have been nerfed. Its very discouraging. I want to go backto HazRes sites and do mm bounty hunting. Sure I can do A<~>B loops, but I need to get out of a sindwinder first. Everyting besides passenger missions are paying along the scale of Data Transfers.

Oh so your financially well off as of the patch, good for you. Im still in a        g sindwinder.

Thank you for proving my point.

not at all, read the rest of my post....... making money is easy, even without long range crap hauling.

Personally i am all for gold rush missions, as detailed in dev diaries, short lived high paying stuff which if you find and get lucky on you make some good money..... but continual cash cows are not good game play imo, and hauling crap being the best paid job in the game makes no sense.

As i said, its a confirmed bug, the devs are working on it.
