The forum, especially the Sothis thread and all the "2.2 is disappointing/rubbish/meh" threads were really instructional over the last few days. They brought out all the chronic vitriol sprayers, doom and gloom sayers, Space Citizen Fanbois, "Frontier is Evil" bots, "They nerfed Sothis so everything else is rubbish" complainers and every other imaginable idiot under the sun.

Fortunately, there is the forum sanitizer in form of the "Ignore User" function. Usage instructions on this function should say "Apply liberally to trolls and other socially challenged forum posters". Which I did recently, my list swelled from 10 entries to 60 in two days and suddenly the forum is much more fun to read. Admittedly, I also used the Rep function much more than usual.

My only concern: how big can the Ignore list grow before impacting forum performance? Is there a hard limit?

And: what is the record number of Ignore entries that a single forum member might have?

Not to my knowledge. I tend to block anyone using an Anime-Avatar to prevent retinoblastoma.

It used to grow quite large, but I reset it from time to time because they usually stop posting after a while. There are some unpleasant personalities around, but I prefer to ignore them the old-fashioned way.

And: what is the record number of Ignore entries that a single forum member might have?

Well, if you ignored absolutely everyone, the forum might be a tad boring.

The forum has been much more pleasant since I have a few individuals on my ignore list.
I just wish that the ignore function would also hide threads made my ignored users and quotes from their posts.

I've been on this forum for a while now, and I think I can claim to be a veteran on this forum. Considering how much of a minority on the forum I represent, my ignore list remains non existent. It's just a matter of how to approach those that annoy you or in some cases plain asinine people.

Yep, my ignore list went nuts with all whining from the insta transfer mob. Yes there was an issue with *all* trade/courier mission payouts, but that tends to be "par for the course" for the first week after a major update.....nothing to lose ones mind over

You can turn off the animation on your browser. IE has it in internet options, advanced - uncheck "Play animations in webpages".
It was the cowbells that made me want to find this feature.

Active as in "I ignore somebody" is easily checked under "My Settings". That is what I originally meant.

Passive as in "I am ignored by somebody": would be great to know what the record might be, but I doubt that we could find out about that.

Thanks for the hint, but it's a misunderstanding. I wasn't referring to animated avatars but anime avatars (Japanese cartoon-style avatars typically displaying cute little girls with huge eyes and unnatural hair colours only pedophiles would use).

I think some of the mods can tell. A comment that Brett made recently indicated this, as he confirmed to someone that he wasn't on another player's ignore list.

Yeah i think that you have missed the point with the forum, if you can't listen to the others then you shouldn't be using the forum unless you want to hear yourself basically...
