2.2 should still be in beta!

So here we are with 2.2 and holy **** there is alot of "problems"


Im playing in VR so many of my problem wont be "regular" problems I guess.


Fist off the new fighters, when buying the bay and then having to travel all over the place to get the other fighters is just annoying.
If the station have the bay they should have atleast two of the fighers types aswell. only having one per station is just silly. or were i just unlucky ? only been to 3 stations with bays.
2nd "thing".. I went do some skimmer missions on a planet, wanted tp try and kill some skimmers with the fighter! but then most of the kills didnt count towards the mission goal :S ( bug? )
but never the less I gave up on the fighter vs skimmer and decided...        it! i'll do this the old fasion way then.


So i took over my main ship and wanted to land so i could use my SRV.. but i couldnt... the fighter is out so no landing gear for me.


Fair enough i guess.


So I look down at the really messy role menu system and ask my fighter to come back and dock, but nope not happning. no idea why! just nope.
The npc doesnt tell me anything either. so what thoes one do ? if you want something done right, you do it yourself! so off I go into the figther :)
I want to request my ship for docking but I cant! the option is red...        me? only works if im really high up? didnt care much for finding out! time is money!


So I crash my fighter into the ground. bam! back in the ship I am, fighter gone and im ready to land!


I deploy in my trust'y SRV only do find out the menu's seems to have changed place/distance abit. they are now right up in my face ( the side panels ) and re-centering doesnt change that.
So as if the fighters menu's wasnt place horrible enough ( covering the windows etc ) they just had to mess with my beloved SRV too? -.- great


Atleast the skimmers i kill is now count towards the mission goal. mission complet.


So on my way back to turn-in the skimmer missions I get interdicted, np i got my little fighter ! yay battle time! its a cobra mk3 so it shouldnt be too difficult.. right? wrong :/
First off im nearly half dead before my fighter is out and ready ( im in the beluga liner ) but leave that be for now.
Fighter is out and here we go :) but omg... lol? the damage from my fighter is a joke! I mean really ? FD said they do abit more then large hardpoints or something? no way...
it would take 5 mins if not more to kill this joker.
Anywho since killing isnt an option, I jump back to my main ship and fly off. atleast the fighter "saved" from being killed by the evil cobra by keeping the npc busy! I guess that is worth something :|


I was using the F63 and damn the lateral thrusters are worthless :S even with boost active.


Am I the only one that find the "new" helm menu a big mess? and really 'hard/annoying' to use with a hotas?




Sure we can write some of thoes things off to "patch day problems" but alot of them cannot.

The list is alot longer, but its bed time :)
 
Ehh... I'll just pick a random bit and answer it, because it's too messy to read it all.

What weapons do you use on the SLF?
Frontier said they will have DPS like one large hardpoint and that's exactly what they have. Unless you choose the gimballed pulse lasers. They are there only to punish people who are too lazy to use real weapons.
 
TL;DR version of much of the post: 2.2 should still be in Beta because of user error.

Been playing this evening and it all seems fine, frame rate is slower than usual but expecting this to clear in next couple of days.

My guesses (not facts):
- you need to compete skimmer missions with an SRV otherwise too easy (otherwise I could take my FDL down there and wreak havoc)
- you need to learn the new menu (seemed a big improvement for me)
- can only use little ship or srv one at a time (personally, not saying I am smart or you are wrong or anything, I would have been very surprised if this wasn't the case)
- little ships advertised as good against shields but not hulls
- little ships maneuverability is OP already without thrusters. What are boost turns like?
- you might have woken up on the wrong side of the bed :) (due to concluding that these issues all mean in total that the game is buggy)

You can complete skimmer missions in your ship and doesn't require an SRV. Your ship just can't target skimmers.
 
Given the fact that I still can't even begin the download and the missions paying less money than my fuel cost on my Python, I have to agree with the OP

Oh I did not know this.......is that why I have seen people use dumb fire missiles in youtube videos?
 
The f63's lateral thrusters are indeed worthless! A bug report was made early in the beta but Frontier guys insisted it was working as intended. Even though videos have shown the other fighters lateral thrust being an order of magnitude greater than the Condor, it is working as intended....so I guess the Condor is just worthless then?

That would be why. So rain as much hell with your FDL as you want. I was personally looking forward to fitting a gunship with missle racks and multicannons and using it like a gunship for planetary assaults.
