So 2.3 happened, and while there are a number of threads, this is my own personal take on it, from start to.. to where I am now.
So let's begin:
The download - it took about six minutes to complete. No complaints there.
My Keybinding survived intact, though my ADS were removed from my fire groups to make way for the as-of-yet useless Data Link Scanner.
So far, so good.
Went and bought and outfitted a Dolphin. Really pleased with this ship. It handles well, jumps well, has good internals, and I'm currently working on Engineering ever last square inch of it.
Mutlicrew - I tried to try it. No ships were available. I'll try some more - eventually someone will be looking for a crew for something other than Piracy, which does not interest me.
The Camera Suite - Ok.. this one.. it's pretty clear this was designed and built entirely with a console controller in mind. It took me a little over an hour to figure out what to bind to what to make this usable. I'm using one full mode of a Logitech G13 gamepad to control it, with the little joystick to control the up/down and left/right. It's a touch awkward yet, as it's quite obvious it was meant to be controlled with a dual joystick console controller. I do have a Logitech PC controller that is built like a PS controller, but I really don't want to add yet another controller to my setup. That aside, it's rather nice, though I don't see me ever being able to fly around in the camera view the way that was showcased in all the streams. I'm at least one if not two hands short of being able to do that. Not a game-breaker for me though.
Performance - So far, no major performance issues, not like 2.2. Did have a little trouble with my Wing - people just kept dropping out, even though they were still online. Again, not a game-breaker.
The Galaxy Map - UGH! This one did it for me. As I run a GTX 1080 and all my settings as high as they go, I found the little system "tag" menu, or rather did NOT find it, as it was somewhere way off the screen. Found out I can urge it back to somewhere I can see it by turning down Supersampling. Hardly a "fix", and I can't conceive how this didn't get caught in paida testing. Oh, wait, yeah I can, but I won't spit on that grave today.
The Nerfs - Not really a major concern for me. My bread-and-water has never been "mission stacking", though I can never be convinced it was ever really a problem either. Also, my shields appear to have weathered the update, though I was never one of those 10k Mj shield people either.
The Buffs - I haven't actually had a chance to check any of my other ships (Orca or Beluga) to see how they've benefited from their diets, nor have I checked on my DBX, though the poor thing is likely to wind up in mothball, eclipsed by the phenomenal Dolphin Luxury Explorer.
The New - Haven't found anything new yet - still working on Engineering my Dolphin. But I'm sure it's out there. Actually, that's not completely true - I did see one new Tourist beacon. It's still a tourist beacon.
So overall, I'd call this update a smashing success - nothing terribly broken that I've found yet.
