2.3 LOVE

Despite all the hate i want to share my first experience with 2.3.

Before i start, i haven't played ED for nearly 4 weeks.
So it was reason to get back.

I just checked all the panels and noticed a different comm panel and the added holo-me button, which i clicked first.
Had no issues with modelling my avatar, except no camera controls assigned by default.

I then tried to find a crew for pirating, no one joined, as well no other player joined for other stuff.
Lets try to join another ship, got placed in an anaconda in a haz res - bountyhunting. Had no clue what to do, only played with the pips :O
Obviously i had the gunner role, but i were unable to target, shot or anything, the fighter bay was already in use from the NPC crew member.
All i did was looking around, setup the camera controls and watching the show. After 20 minutes the CMDR asked me if i do anything, i said no, only watching.
He then kicked me but hey, i got a half million for it, thats some nasty payout for doing nothing.
Joined several other CMDRs but no one had any ideas how to use the multicrew feature at all [big grin]

Back in the dock, i got a name for my ship "BJ DEEP", but what is the purpose of the registration number? Nevermind.
Went in a haz res by myself, invited people to join me......for mining......well, i did some mining - keep shooting the federals, crew mates started complaining....why you not shoot the bounties? bla bla bla

Anyway.

Switched to my secondary exploration account, which is currently 8000 ly away from the bubble......wondering if people looking for a ship exploring?
And yes, there were many CMDRs joining me. Mostly those who never done any exploration, had some nice chats with them.

The question is here, do they get any rewards for joining me? Scanning stuff, nametag for both CMDRs?

Finally, i see the game going in the right direction, even if it's a bit confusing for now.

Calling it the couple update, because it brings people together.......

What i always wanted to do is 'jump in' to the person who flied one week to SgrA and say 'blah, nothing special, i am out'. :D I also like 2.3.

BJ DEEP...:p

Damnit you need the PC version.

Made a great grizzled veteran Holo-Me. Probably the best character creator I've seen.

Trouble is he cannot fly anywhere because of the Map Borks.

LOL, well, i'm heading to beagle point but i might go to Sag A. as Holo-Beacon and i sell 10 minutes watching Sag A for 5 $ :x

EvE's and GTA Online is much better, but it's ok for now.

Registration will, at some point, be used by the station to identify you verbally, it just adds a slightly more personal interaction although I expect it'll still read the individual letters rather than words.

Stations already identify us with our gamertags (on Xbox at least), Tango Echo Romeo.....we'll see it in the future maybe.

Blue Jeans...EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I READ IT! [yesnod]

I agree op I'm enjoying 2.3 and playing on the xbox, its running so much better. I'm yet to update my pc account but i will. I mentioned the Xbox bc it was pretty poor before 2.3, dropping at stations is so much quicker and the general game is running much better (on Xbox). So yea I'm enjoying it.. oh and them other features they added are just a bonus ;)

A Massive Welldone FD

you would not believe the system I am running this on, it's probably the lowest spec you have the game running on, I've had no problems at all, none and I am not running on the lowest graphic settings either, so basically, you have achieved miracles here FD, I am deadly serious!

every now and again I feel like I need to plug in a second keyboard as I am sure I've run out of keys for binding but apart from that, you should all be very proud of yourselves, ignore the spoilt brats and whiners, that's just bad parenting and the times we live in.

congratulations FD. truly, and thank you.

The thing i love most about the game (PC version though) when i bought the game, i coudn't play it due poor FPS, getting out of dock was near impossible with 5FPS..
This was at the release of the game... In time with the same hardware... it went from 5FPS on lowest settings to a stable 60+ FPS on ultra settings.

And then the numerous other features, added over time, and now co-op flying..
I understand this is not for everyone... hence i play several space games with co-op ship control, but i noticed this is niche for most games,
as most people play rather solo, even with a multi-crew ship.
Not everyone has friends/family that is playing always together, but for us that do... its a dream coming through.

Playing last night with my wife ED, with her as gunner in my Python, now it was allways a brutal ship already, but now with turrets that in the hands of a player is unjammable by chaff,
able to track and fire upon 2 targets at the same time... Is fun.
But it does require some good coordination and communication.. but its a blast.

Loving every minute of it.
Can already hear people scream OP MC Pythons!!!!!!!

Can't agree more. I also took a small break from Elite, went exploring, was about 50k ly from the bubble, popped into Multi-Crew and had some of the most fun I've had in this game. I've noticed some small bugs, but nothing game breaking. Load times are crazy smooth now, between logging in, and even going into System and Galaxy Maps.

Well done FDEV!

Went poking around Maia last night as crew and helm. Loved it! Having the Commanders look different adds to a sense of place, I actually found myself RP'ing slightly as I felt I was almost actually THERE.
Exploring is much less tedious with another commander.
Unless, as there was once a commander who was going long distance in an FDL!!?? No thanks.
The sense of place and flying somebody else's fighter was just brilliant!
Hopefully I can find someone to sign on with as regular crew or someone to join me on a regular basis as crew.
The only downside has been frequent disconnects when it's been random crew as opposed to invited crew.
I'm well chuffed so far!
Well done FDEV!
