[2.3 Steam] Redownloading instead of updating

Is anyone else having steam redownloading the entire game instead of updating it, I thought it would be a few hundred megabytes download and I could get in some flight time before dinner BUT its now decided to download 10.5Gb of the game.

It's not the entire game, that's somewhere around the 13.5Gb mark.

But 10.5 is exactly what steam downloaded for me too, seems normal.

I can confirm that is the correct size of the update I had from Steam last night, some beta testers in other threads were talking about it being 13.5GB when they started testing a few week's back so it is a big patch :D

On my poor MacBook - Steam has decided that Elite isn't installed at all - and is now downloading about 25Gb of stuff :(

Is the game still on your hard drive, or has it mysteriously disappeared?

I'm not sure if it works the same on Mac, but if you look in steam/steamapps/common/ and you have and Elite Dangerous folder, if you start downloading, it'll realise stuff is still there and just download the rest.

Usually. Lol

Oh the OS is Windows 10 - and according to Steam Elite wasn't even installed on D:

The logs on C: say otherwise, but regardless the install has been wiped and it's downloading from the start. I wouldn't mind so much, but the connection here is rubbish and it'll leave my D drive nearly full :(

I may or may not be accurate in saying:
I think it flags for the complete download but if you already have the correct file/version it skips to the next file. I don't use Steam however my downloads always say 7 hours (or some such infuriating number) to go yet complete after only a few (2 or 3) hours.
As i'm on a crappy 5.5 m/bit d/load speed i notice these things !

Same here, but it is a considerable update to the game, so kinda expected it.

Would be nice if the update process removed the beta installs though since its not required post launch, rather than having to do it manually.
