2 AI Crew members?

Is there a chance that in a future update we will be able to have more than 1 crew member AI on our ships? I would like to be able to use both fighters in my ship. Especially since multi-crew seems very dead which makes deploying a second fighter very difficult.

FDEV said no to this, they don't want you to have two NPC's active at the same time in the fighters.

Hm... I wonder what is the reasoning behind this decision... I also would very much like both fighters deployed in my PvE sessions...

The fighters are cool, I like switching between helm and fighter frequently, taking out eagles in the fighter is so much fun...

Apparently, two NPC fighters are OP, whereas two Multicrew CMDRS in fighters aren't. They must hold a very high esteem of their AI.

I'll say, even Harmless NPCS with railguns can be annoying to fight if they are in a nimble ship and you're in a slow turning big ship. Also the fact that NPC railguns NEVER miss.... so wings of Elite NPCS armed with rails are a sheer nightmare to even a seasoned pilot if you choose to fight since they just keep peppering you.

I do not understand what the problem is with having two AI SLF's. In my opinion the big 3 were meant to be overpowered, after all you dont spend hundreds of MILLIONS of credits for a ship that something smaller and cheaper can do just as well.

By becoming overpowered, they'd become a no-brainer/end goal for almost everybody, with the other ships just a little fancy ride for vacation purposes and frontier does not want that.

But I'm just bumping this thread to ask this :

put the NPC crew in the seat when possible. Please. That in itself would justify, to me, the huge risk investment. I want a person in there.

Especially since multi-crew seems very dead

I quite regularly go into CZs, and whenever I do, I open up my Corvette. Normally I have 2 crew members within a couple of minutes. If one drops out, they are soon replaced. From that perspective, "very dead" seems and entirely wrong description.

My guess is that you say it's dead because you try to join someone else's ship, and that far more people want to do this than open up their own ship, so you get placed in a long queue.

Maybe FDev need to provide a bit more incentive for people to open up their ships?

Not to mention players can block other players who screw around or otherwise act in an anti-social manner. If you set off a sequential chain of heat sink for lulz you may not find a lot of CMDR's willing to take you onboard.

Just sayin'

I've had dozens of randoms on board, and I never had anything like that happen. Multicrew has been a very positive experience for me, and I try to make it a positive experience for my guests. I would really like to see it expanded on to cover other activities.

Gah, I just outfitted a dual fighter bay Cutter last night and hadn't gotten to the disappointment of not being able to fly two AIs in them. Play in open on my own most of the time. Think Fdev doesn't realize how much of this game is a SP game for most people.

Anyhow, disappointed face :(

Really? I thought, based on a previous livestream, that it was more technical issues and the command UI that prevented two fighters being used? That said, Frontier do make weird decisions in the name of balance (wings and multicrew extra pips are fine, stacking SCBs/boosters is fine, over-engineered ships are fine? AI wingmen and multiple fighters are not? Go figure...)
