2 Things I want to to in ED & ED-H

1) Save the game without having to exit to main menu or to exit to desktop.
2) Have both HOTAS and Hand Controller connected so that I can use HOTAS for Ship and Hand Controller for SRV.

Please advise if it is already possible to do these things.

1) No, sorry. Your game save is server-side so it's sort of continually saved.

2) Yes, I believe so. I don't but others do.
 
1. Elite dangerous/horizon is always online. So your profile is saved to servers all the time. When ever you do something its saved and you can´t go to past save.

2.I think you can just map it manually. Map controller to your srv controls and k+m/hotas or something else to everything else. There isn´t any presets for this, but you can do it. I use joystick+mouse+k board for flying and controller for driving and k board+mouse to drive while in turret mode.

I detest eggbox controllers. If you have a hotas and you're still trying to use eggbox controller then something is seriously wrong.

HOTAS works very well with SRV and is a much more realistic control for that vehicle.
 
Yeah, atmospheric landings are going to be interesting to say the least, especially with some of the insanely dense atmosphere's out there, by all rights unless you leave supercruise and just slowly 'fall' on to them, at any too high entry speed it would be like hitting a wall.

I think the current mechanic of the "Glide" approach will be altered for the re-entry phase for atmospheric landings, based on how there's no engine control (just love listening to the hull creak and groan around me :) ).

The Glide allows for management of a re-entry angle, and as you say, what speed you are making at the start of re-entry will come into play.

You can do this. I currently have the HOTAS for flying and the PS3 controller for SRV. Works a treat.
 
Oooo, this must become a happy thread, as both the OPs requests are already implemented. Yay. :)

I think that FD only put "Save and exit to menu" rather than "Exit" just to reassure people that the game will be saved. But as has been pointed out, this actually happens automatically whenever necessary, so you don't need to worry about saving it at all.

Your game is saved while you play. Exiting probably adds another one but generally I'd say killing the client and exiting to desktop should get you back nearly at the same spot.

I had a couple of CTD problems a couple of months ago when experimenting with the GraphicsConfiguration.xml. I never noticed that I didn't get back in where I was kicked out.

I fly the ship with a HOTAS and control the buggy with a 360 controller. It's a little bit of a MAJOR PITA to configure but it works.

I am using a PS4 controller for flying (with Keyboard as well, obvs) - does HOTAS make that much of a difference to the overall experience?

How did you managed this? E-D don't ssem to recognize my PS3 Controller (set up as XBOX controller) in my X55 Controll scheme...

I useed the scptoolkit to install and connect the ps3 controller. A video guide here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCCrAv2tX84 (The software has slightly changed but follows the general theme of the guide)

I then went to the bottom bindings section and applied the PS3 actions to the driving.
