Ships 200 years of excellence in lone wolf trading and combat: The Cobra Mk.III

Not just lone wolf trading and combat, but a robust explorer too. :) Or at least mine thinks she is, anyway.

Same here I use mine for exploring but with a light BH setup and self protection of course ;) I believe if we were only allowed one ship in game the Cobra would be it

Thought they would have a Cobra Mk IV or V by now, some ships have gone through loads of revisions by now.

I still prefer the Krait though so much more mean looking with the teeth :)

I started with the explorer Cobra option, and all I've added is a fuel scoop. It suits my self-imposed Ironmouse mode perfectly!
I doubt I'll ever switch to another ship - my Cobra does all I need! I'm itching to name it - I do hope that gets implemented.

Such a small thing, but such a big thing to us players. PLEASE let us name our ships in 1.3

Maybe part of the problem is crowding. People will want ship names to appear on the HUD to other players, and we've already got Name, Rank, Legal Status, and next Faction showing up there.

Of course we all know what the other part of the problem is - so many of us are immature morons who would abuse it.

But I'd settle for having the ship named and being only visible on my UI interface to myself, you know? I don't need to be able to broadcast it, but I do need it "officially" there.

Oh, still got my first Cobra too, though she's in dry dock.

That'd do me too - and a proper ship's log with reg number, ship's name, etc.

Yeah, Ziggy Starduster had a great (and simple) idea for a ship's log. Something like Twitter in terms of scale (but not a social media thing), where each entry logs your current location and you can enter up to, say, 250 characters. Nothing major, but would be great for keeping track of a trip, or just to look back through and find an important piece of information you're looking for.

I don't know why it is, but I didn't like the Cobra Mk III in Frontier: Elite II. I much preferred the Mk I model in that game. However, in Elite: Dangerous the Cobra is just right for me.

I think my cobra will actually be my primary ship for most of my time with the game. I'm tentatively saving up for a Vulture, but there's just something about the Cobra that I love.

I’ve got mine rigged for speed. No weapons, two 0A shield boosters, 4A fuel scoop, A spec distributor etc, camouflage paint job. It really is like a leaf on the wind. I gave up playing in open around the Old Worlds until I found my baby. It’s given me confidence to play with real people again.

My Cobra feels like an extension of my own self sometimes. I've gotten so used to it that for the times I need a specialized setup I park it and buy another for the task so I don't corrupt it's history.

I started bounty hunting at nav beacons with my sidey, and unlike most bounty hunters I went straight into a cobra been in love with it ever since. It's been in storage for a while but it comes out now and again for missions and transport. The speed vs my type 9 is refreshing to say the least.

I'm sure the Python had teeth on its illustration in the original '84 game manual!
