2018 Premium Content: what about the moon?

I still remember that cold day, back in December 2015.
It took me all night to download Horizons 3.0 (I had no fiber at that time).

Game Loading, I'm excited... After one year of hype I can finally land on a planet...

Only airless planets are available so which one will be the very first one? My ship is docked at Galileo, so pretty obvious choice, the MOON!
My ship leaves the starport... FSD charging, 4, 3, 2, 1 engage.... and straight to the Moon!
Moon's approaching... Waiting for Orbital Flight... nothing happens... still waiting...

EMERGENCY STOP
TOO CLOSE

Holy , what?
Google google google, Moon Elite Dangerous Landing.... THE MOON IS NOT LANDABLE IN HORIZONS! WHAT?!

My first landing experience was such a letdown! So no atmospherical worlds and not even the moon! I was so disappointed with Frontier [down]
I hoped to see it later, during Horizons season... but they completely forgot it.

SO COULD BE THE MOON UPDATED WITH BIG CITIES AND TOURISTIC BEACONS A BEYOND PREMIUM CONTENT?

Could be.

It might also be that as the moon is made of cheese, landings have been banned to prevent mice escaping and eating it all.

A new commodity: LUNATIC CHEESE, available only on the moon.

Have a slice of lunatic cheese with your favourite tea in a Hutton Mug!

Yeah this would be a good addition £7 or something.

Depends on the licensing for moon data I suppose and how much that would cost Frontier.

There would have to be some SERIOUSLY IMPRESSIVE gameplay for FD to charge £7 just to be able to land on the Moon.

It could well be that FD are saving the Moon for the next phase of landing on currently unavailable planets.

I cant see it. It will only be useful to those that have a permit to visit the Sol system.

While I have a permit for Sol, I just don't we why I would bother with it. What extra gameplay elements will it give me? I cant see using the new exploration tools with it.

So nope not that interested in it to be honest.

They should formally declare it a historic site or something and forbid landing, for the time being, rather than just not letting the landing computer operate.

That's why it would be premium content (or pay DLC). If you like it you take it, otherwise you skip it.
Then why would you use exploration tools on the moon? In 3304 the moon appears to be heavily populated so there's nothing to discover anymore.
I would like to see big cities and domes scattered all over the surface with some newly designed big starport.

Yeah I understand it's only eye-candy stuff but why not? Immersion is also about that.

To add gameplay FDEV could make it a restricted area. To get the permit you need to go through a story with dedicated new missions to complete. I would pay 10€ for few hours of story and missions plus the moon.

It would worth more than the ship kit with useless spoilers.

The surfaces of landable planets are procedurally generated. The Moon would be tough to do because I doubt FD would want to procedurally generate it ... they'd want to do it right with all the familiar landmarks.

The reason you can't land on the moon is so obvious....

...that's no moon...

....Seriously, if you read about it, the origins of our moon are not just mysterious, they're downright WEIRD (aka, we still have no clue why the moon is there, how come its so HUGE, how it got there and why it shares almost no geological characteristics with anything in our vicinity).

You're right it can't be proc.gen but in 3 years they had enough time to think about it ;)
