2025 roadmap is as wide a puddle and deep as a puddle

I don't want to sound like negative nancy here, but let's be real...

the 2025 roadmap is 85% ship sales and 15% content.
with all due respect, Vanguard is not really a content update but an improvement to a social feature that nobody uses in Elite, aka Squadrons.

So if you take out all the ship sales from the roadmap, and Vanguard , we only have one more "feature" left for 2025 and it ain't going be any of what the community really wanted.

no more Thargoid stuff
no more exploration content

2025 is shaping to be a very heavy ship sales year. oh wait, I know a tech demo that does just that.. zero content and only ship sales....

I guess it's time to take a break from Elite.

Frontier's strategy appears to be to make more niche content for an already niche game in a niche genre. It is what it is.

Many groups use Squadrons.

Vanguard appears to be a parallel feature, focused on group tasks rather than group allegiance.

I think most of us in squadrons would like the tools available to squadrons expanding.

I do sometimes wonder if FDev are looking over at CIG and kicking themselves they didnt get in on the whole ship-grift earlier.
I imagine in another timeline they're selling something like the Mandalay for around $175 a pop and a Cutter for north of a grand

I can't argue with any of that. But at least we have the Distant Worlds 3 event coming. Its not exactly frontiers doing, but I'm sure it'll make up for a lackluster roadmap !

The ARX-bought stuff was a success, and so they will continue finding ways to create more of it. I think this is very clever. Take the colonization for example: ARX-bought station naming for what.. 5k, right? Good idea.
I expect the ships and the coming content to have that aspect leveraged as well. Which will give them incentive to create even more ships and content on short notice. I love it.

Got the impression that Vanguards are "Player Minor Factions 2.0".
See 1h12m; "We are going to allow player led faction to exist here. You can take that as a Vanguard and push that into the BGS."
