23 hours of gameplay... Leads to this!

So I'm a new player in the Standard beta. I've been off work/college so I've been putting a tonne of hours into this game. I'm really enjoying trading despite the slight repetitiveness of the game.

I'm sharing my experience so you all can learn from my mistake.

Good warning ... even better if you put the picture in a spoiler tag to shrink your post size ;)

(Edit the post - click Go advanced - highlight the IMG line and press the red button that looks like a label, to the right of the #)

Same happened to me when 4 cobras jumped me, was dead before the jump drive had a chance to cool down, missiles everywhere.

Now I back up my save after every session.

I lost my Viper last night due to being silly and not having the insurance.

If it's any consolation have a look at the DDF the final game will give you more options if you can't pay your bill

how do you back up a save if its an online server game? is there a local file held on hte pc we can back up and restore it if wiped?

Well, a disconnect from the server just when I was selling goods means that all of my profit for today is gone. Ho hum...

You don't .. this is a live by your actions & consequences type game.

You should be able to back things up when they release the offline single player on-your-PC mode .. until then it's online only.

Also - welcome to the forums ... Nice screen shot in so much that I have been there ... only I decided to see if "self destruct" gave you a count down / warning / opportunity to change your mind ... no is the answer :eek:

Ouch - condolences... been there, done that, got the T-shirt. And learned an important lesson, always have enough credit to cover your insurance :)

you will get your money, at least i got it, it showed 0 tons in cargo bay and no cash in bank, i just quit and next time i played (next day) money was in account :)

Yes, cargo is not covered.

However, the insurance system does not work yet (at least in 1.02) when I lost my Hauler and could not get it back, despite having almost enough money in my credit pool to buy a new one. And then going back to the "free" Sidewinder, the game stole 18,000 credits from me leaving me with under 2000 :mad:
