23 hours of gameplay... Leads to this!

It was actually on takeoff! I held the up thrust too long and hit someone/something that was flying too fast. Wooops.

Ha, I feel your pain man. I bought a Viper, took off from the landing pad, headed for the letterbox and crashed straight into the wall thinking... Wow, this thing is fast!

Luckily I had enough for the insurance

So I'm a new player in the Standard beta. I've been off work/college so I've been putting a tonne of hours into this game. I'm really enjoying trading despite the slight repetitiveness of the game.

I'm sharing my experience so you all can learn from my mistake.

Kill your speed. Not your credit balance.

Just so you know, the final game mechanics will be different. If you cannot afford to buy back your ship and upgrades you can effectively go into debt and do missions for the loaner untill you have it paid off. This will make situations like yours less of a dead end.

However, the best advice is never to fly out of a station without enough credits to cover the insurance of your ship and its upgrades, I think its 10% of its overall value?

If you do....well you takes your chances.....

Look at this one, all like "mmmh could be that, dunno, I never lost a single ship mmmh "

:D

For the record, it's 5% of the ship and equipment total value. Cargo is not counted in, nor it is given back.
