235M credit ship lost

I crashed my Anaconda accidentally tonight, March 24th, and did not have the insurance cost available right away.
If you do not have the insurance money right away, there is no possibility to earn the insurance in another ship and then buy the wrecked ship back.
I just lost a ship I have spent 3 months to get to. This is actually so bad I have no words; At this point I am not sure I can bear start all over.

The insurance rules really should be revised.

Edit for clarity:
- This is not a whine post; I worded it thus to illustrate the feeling of loosing all assets to - yes - my own stupidity.
- I am very consciously aware of how the insurance system works, I don't need to hear it. That is not the purpose of this post.
- I really think that the insurance should work in a way that lets people who - for any given reason - do not happen to have enough cash to pay the rebuy cost of a lost ship can get it back in one way or another. The cost adjusted with the value of the ship, keeping it Painfully, but not 235M painfully. No RL insurance company will ever demand that you pay up on the crashside or you lose your car!

Edit one last time:
This post is ancient!
Do not tell me again what an idiot dunst I was to run without insurance. I knew that already before I wrote this post, and it has now been months since this happened.
No really; please don't; there are a gazillion pages about this already. And besides, if that is all you feel you need to say, you are missing my point anyway. So please just don't. Okay? But feel free to read through it all; it will give you some snickers and giggles...
But be warned: this post is over 35 pages, and although there are a couple of pearls in here, you have to weed through a lot of ..ehm.. lesser pearls?

Really? Another one? How can you earn your way to a Conda and not understand how insurance works? Revise your thinking, not the game.

True, the current insurance rules are a bit evil. If someone is unable to pay the rebuy cost then the ship should still be rebought but stored away and locked until the rebuy cost is paid.
This way a player might have to fly a sidewinder for some time again without actually losing the ship they bought.

Did you forget docking request? Sorry to hear man.

I had just managed to save up to the top thrusters, and was in the process of earning myself up to insurance level. The thrusters really are needed tho, so I took a chance. Never had any flying problems before this. Go figure.

Exactly!

Evitaret, ab erroribus.

I'm sorry to hear that, I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
I do not think the game needs to change though, in all honesty you should have known better than to fly out in that thing without insurance! You purchased the most expensive ship in the game.

Of course I know how insurance cost, and I have almost always had enough. Only just not this time. Just a couple runs would have taken care of it.

Not much sympathy here. It is rule number 1: don't fly without insurance.

I really feel for folks in these kinda threads. I know its folks sillyness for flying with no insurance. But honestly, if there was an ingame banking system....Id donate a little so folk don't have to grind so much again.
If I went from Conda to zero.....Id uninstall

That is the nature of Elite, I'm afraid. The game is about risk, and your ability to manage it. The price of gambling and failing is high... but that's why it's gambling.

The insurance mechanic as it stands is in keeping with the themes of the game.

That's not to say I don't feel sympathy for you, because I do. I can only imagine how frustrating, even infuriating, it must be.

However, you knew the rules. You knew the risk you were taking. You chose to take it. It was a poor choice, and the price was sadly very high.

Live, and learn. It will be easier to earn the second time, because you know how you did it once before.

rofl there is no risk

AI cant kill you, its almost impossible to kill yourself with shields

pvp is negated by solo

WOW...sorry to hear about that. I'm not even close to a anaconda yet. However I think the insurance makes it easy enough the way it is no need to make it easier. One minor addition would be nice though....a separate insurance account that cannot be incidentally spent.

(optimism) Good news : you get to play the game all over again!

Actually, not quite - you probably already have good ranking and permits.
