25 minutes wait for an outpost landing pad to become free

I dont mind waiting the odd minute for landing pads to become available, but 25 minutes? come on.... I could see all three pads and they all had a sidewinder just sitting their for that period. I was the only one waiting, in a Hauler with a bulletin board mission otherwise I would have left and sold the stuff somewhere else.

Anyone else had a long wait?

Seems common in the popular starting zones. Remember you can change over to solo mode to avoid the queue if its time critical or your fed up waiting.

its a shame they cant set a timer that after 5 mins or immediatly, you dont launch you go into the hanger.....im assuming of course that when you enter hanger the pad becomes free, makes sense in a logical way if you have limited pads force shifting the ship to a holding area inside i.e hangers

but i agree with hap if your waiting ages switch to solo play then you only have to fight with npc's for pads

Just out of curiosity, were those NPCs or human players on the pads? Once they took off the pad, were their sensors icons solid or hollow?

You cant fly to the next station if you are on a mission, and it may be the only station that makes sense for a trader full of cargo. I give it a few minutes and just switch to solo if I cant dock. I dont like doing it but I dont want to spend my gaming time having a voice denying me over and over again :) A queuing system would be good. Or if people actually entered the hanger presumably that would free up their bay, not that I expect that to happen. Maybe the station could automatically bring a ship into the hanger if it has been on the pad surface for more than a couple of minutes.

solo or you could try to change instance by log of and on

I'm sure I read somewhere if an NPC is docked and a player requests docking permission that NPC is coded to give way and launch. I'll try and dig it up.

your correct n patch notes maybe its bugged then?

This has really been <snip> over the weekend.

The only way I found around it was to sit and watch a single pad until someone looked like they were leaving, and then start to spam the station with permission requests.

I'm sure I remember David Braben saying that you could 'persuade' an occupant of a landing pad at an outpost to move. Its worth trying that I think even if it means getting a fine ;)

Erm how?

Define Persuade...

...Communication?

...Gentle Bump?

...Open Fire? (Seems risky)

I've had this issue also, and I have even tried to bump the ship off the landing pad as per DB's suggestion.

Even though I was in a bigger ship, the landed ship was simply glued to the pad and did not move at all...

Get close, request docking again. Shortly after one NPC should launch.

Now you could expect to land then but there's a bug where you can't. So exit and reload and you'll be free to request and land. This method works for me.
