25 minutes wait for an outpost landing pad to become free

NPC's. I have noted that real players usually go into the Hangars.

I NEVER go into the hanger unless the service I want forces me to. It's simply a waste of time.

So much this, lol!

Not on Haulage missions you can't. Hint: traders do a lot of haulage. Also the next station may have a completely different economy and thus be useless.

save and reload. or switch to solo.

Both of these options are potential workarounds, but don't really explain why such a a long wait is required.

FWIW the save and reload doesn't always (very rarely) work, and switching to solo will immediately disqualify you from the "Race to Elite" assuming you have any such ambition.

I play solo most of the time, but i've never seen a situation where NPCs were crowding out the landing pads. Never once been refused docking permission.

Are you sure there were not just lots of PCs?

Anyway, sounds like a ticket is needed for this issue.

I had this problem when I first spawned last week. Soon had enough to upgrade my FSD to >10LY range to escape my local bubble, jumped maybe 5 times, and I've literally not seen a single PC since (and no more queuing either). I could as well be playing solo.

I know its a staggeringly huge galaxy, but I'm surprised a half dozen jumps takes you from "crowded" to "totally alone".

John "Bart" Roberts

Yeah I've not really left my initial starting bubble, but perhaps this is an idea worth trying.

The only downside is having to get to know a new area again, but that's not such a great hardship I guess :)

There should be a queue system so you don't have to spam docking requests. I don't think anything else is really needed. People can simply go to a less crowded system or a system with better docking facilities.

One thing Frontier could do, if a system is particularly crowded and has poor docking facilities, is to "nudge" players to less crowded systems by making missions that take players to those systems.

I like both of these suggestions :)

While I have never had to wait 25 minutes for a pad there have been a number of occassions that I have had to wait a few minutes for one (normally when on a mission and as with the original poster this mainly happens on small outposts with only 4 pads.

As earlier posters have suggested I think the best solution would be for there to be additional (but limited) hanger space below the pad to let more ships land on small outposts and for all ships to be moved to a hangar automatically after a short period of time or if there is a docking request and no other pads available and a queue system for occasions when all slots are filled

I didn't even know there was queues to land...never had any issue...but then, i'm not on the starting systems area.

God god, the devs should simply put a timer like they have on the mail slots. Spend too much time on a pad, get blasted to pieces. Simple, your being an twit.

As for the people that dont enter the hangar, why not? You can't launch from the pad, when you select launch it still drags you down into the hangar anyways to turn around.

The second you land, select enter hangar, then select station menu. You can do everything except outfitting and shipyard while in transit to the hangar. By the time i've sold and bought my new cargo and did a quick check of the bulletin board I'm already in the hangar. Selecting launch simply sends you straight out andup facing the correct direction. No mus no fus.

Siitting on the pad doing your transactions just makes you an inconsiderate person unless your in solo mode.

As for just "going into solo mode" that is a god damn pain in the ass. It restarts with you like 20km from the damn station. Just fix the issue devs.

As for just "go to another station", that doesn't work for missions or trade routes. We came to this specific station a for reason...sheesh.

---

Devs, please fix the gameplay with this.

If not a timer, force the ship to go to hanger upon landing. There is no benefit right now to staying up there unless you give us the ability to launch straight from the pad without being turned around.

I'm sure I remember David Braben saying that you could 'persuade' an occupant of a landing pad at an outpost to move. Its worth trying that I think even if it means getting a fine ;)
Sadly no. When you open fire or try to bump, it does nothing to the parking ship as somehow they are not really there, they become one with the station so to say.
I would love to put a bullet on their windshield as a reminder tho :)

I use the docking computer to land, it sometimes says in queue. The most annoying part for me is the un-refinment of the thing, it waves about, reset and does it again and again. then slams into the pad(ok with shield, you get hull damage without one though)

Usually the wait is because players are in the stations, taking their time working. There a few busy stations, they will be popular due to big payouts in trading. I doubt very much it is the NPC as this issue would be occurring in all stations, which you don't get.

Press 2, get comms up and see who is in the system, then find out who is queuing by chatting with the Commanders by selecting their names in the drop down menue. I do this to check out the waiting time, or did as i just avoid stations like that now.

I created a macro bound to a mouse button, so I don't have to press so many keys, when spamming requests.
As someone else mentioned, watch for ships leaving and spam request a few times.

I don't mind it to much though, as its kinda immersive, given they only have 3-4 landing bays.

Wouldn't surprise me if some of the players on the pads are away from their machines, then again they could be waiting for missions as well. Anyone on the pad for more than 60 seconds should be taken into the hangar, possibly even less. Otherwise busy outposts will become a nightmare. .
