This is my point, why was it in a restricted zone if its a legal mission, and the fact that the npc was excorting me out of the restricted zone and then went aggro even though i was complying."In a restricted zone"...

That was my plan never got that far becase the npc spotted me and told me to leave i got the fine trying to do so then the whole settlement aggroed me.That or start the download and leave the restricted zone, stand the other side of the wall or in the roof...

Yea I double checked, because I usually don't take illegal missions in secured space if I can help it, very confusing to me as well what's more is I thought it was a fetch missions and was surprised when it directed me to a data port, but at the time I didn't think much of it because there is data you can legally download, I dunno must of been a bugged quest or labelled incorrectly I dunno I'll just steer clear of those ones and read em a bit more thoroughly to avoid the risksThe "procurement" section of the mission board is a euphemism, it's all theft, which, big surprise, typically illegal. I have never seen a transport job for data, so are you sure it was a legal mission?
I did, you ignored the important part: "pay attention". Stealing data isn't legal, and being in a restricted zone isn't legal. If an NPC tells you to leave a restricted zone, you do so immediately. If you paid attention you'd have realized it was not a legal mission.I was going slow, apparently too slow for the npcs like, maybe add something actually helpful.
There is 4th thoughThere are generally three ways players respond to a situation like this (in order of popularity):
The first two don't work.
- Keep doing what you're doing, hoping for a different outcome
- Start a complaint thread on the forums
- Slow down and pay attention

Read it back to yourself; That was my plan never got that far becase the npc spotted me and told me to leave i got the fine trying to do so then the whole settlement aggroed me.
I was walking normal speed just wasnt running, guess i just assume that a mission with illegal components attached would say so, much like npcs can be mission objectives and hostile toward you but the job giver wont tell you that, seems like an oversight from a development stand point i shouldnt have to interrogate my mission giver for infromation to make sure its safe to do the mission...Read it back to yourself;
A government hired you, an unaffiliated person they can deny having anything to do with, to download some data for them, from a settlement controlled by a different government.
Sometimes that data is alarmed, sometimes it's on a port in a high access level area, sometimes it's in a restricted area. Once in a blue moon it will be in a common area with no alarm but that happens so rarely it doesn't really matter.
Bottom line is you just signed up for espionage
Your employers didn't spell that out and you didn't twig? Too bad...
If they catch you in a restricted area you get a warning and 5 seconds to leave. Then they start shooting. Walking slowly gets you shot.
maybe you didnt read the OP it was a legal mission with no indication there were illegal components. the data may have been alarmed i dont know as i never got that far.I did, you ignored the important part: "pay attention". Stealing data isn't legal, and being in a restricted zone isn't legal. If an NPC tells you to leave a restricted zone, you do so immediately. If you paid attention you'd have realized it was not a legal mission.
Legal from the station's point of view does not equate to legal from the settlement's point of view. They were different factions with potentially different rules. Once you discovered the port was in a restricted area, it should have been obvious it was illegal. A newer, more cautious approach was needed at that point.maybe you didnt read the OP it was a legal mission with no indication there were illegal components. the data may have been alarmed i dont know as i never got that far.
If you shot the guy raising the alarm and murdered the rest of the settlement you wouldn't have had this problem.Doing a legal mission to retrieve data from a port, the port is in a restricted zone, not only are there way to many npcs patrolling said zone but they themselves do not even have the clearance level to be there yet have the audacity to tell me to leave when i have more clearance than them. Furthermore when i don't leave instantly and have to walk out of the zone. i get a measly 250cr fine, which then prompts the technician to sound the alarm, which then makes all the settlement red to me, they down me and send me to the nearest prison ship, because i was legally docked i get a 2.5 million impound on my ship, that seems ridiculous to me, there needs to be a reasonable response to this sort of thing like a guard arrests you and asks for the fine, I mean a ship getting a fine at a station doesn't immediately get attacked, all you need do is dock quickly and pay the fine, this is not how ground settlements work and its pretty silly.
Have you ever done the Horizons version of the mission where you are sent to scam a beacon? The beacon could be Public or Private, it could be out in the open or within a trespass zone.I was walking normal speed just wasnt running, guess i just assume that a mission with illegal components attached would say so, much like npcs can be mission objectives and hostile toward you but the job giver wont tell you that, seems like an oversight from a development stand point i shouldnt have to interrogate my mission giver for infromation to make sure its safe to do the mission...
We all read the OP, but odds are likely that the information presented in the OP is incorrect and the mission wasn't legal.maybe you didnt read the OP it was a legal mission with no indication there were illegal components. the data may have been alarmed i dont know as i never got that far.
That's a and Unhelpful Response for sure dude...Sheeezsays you, but you are not the one in charge of developing the game. If you want the game to perform in certain way that you prefer, well, make your own game and then listen to all the whining and complaints about terrible your game turned out
On more serious note, instead of trying to bend the game to what you want it to be, try to learn the rules following which would allow to enjoy the game more. There's an excellent series of YT video by stealthboy (he still posts around here) to address all the issues you experience and following a few simple steps you can avoid the pitfalls you inadvertently encountered and actually achieve anything you want when dealing with ground content in this game.
