250m IN THE BANK...Time for the Conda...... Help Please?!

To OP,

I just bought my first Anaconda a couple of weeks ago when I had 350mil credits and from my experience, this is the bare minimum you need.

It is awful as stock and with nothing A rated my rebuy is already 10mil (Which I have had to pay once already :). You can't fight anything in it at this level and spend your time running away as it is a lumbering whale when trying to break an interdiction.

I can however earn about 3 times more per hour running missions in it than in my Python.

Regards

Meso.

I prefer my python over my annie and would recommend you buy one before you buy a annie. The python is more versatile and a LOT cheaper. For the credits you have you can buy an awesome python and have credits left over for rebuys and investments. Add to that also it is a good stepping stone up to the big boys. My annie is used almost only for trade CG's and it's priced out at a tad under 300M.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff and it is all small stuff .. lol

Depends what you plan to do.

I personally have 2 large gimballed multicannons, 2 Packhound launchers, and the rest gimballed pulse lasers, plus the SLF.

You need Dirty Drives 3 (but ideally 5) in order to make it useful in combat.
You may need to rely on turrets until then.

Don't skimp on shields, and as you're trading, do fit a pair of point defence on the underside to protect your cargo hatch from hatchbreakers. Fill the rest with shield boosters. Chaff is mostly useless on a large ship, they don't create enough spread, so weapons will still strike your ship anyway, but can prevent module sniping.

I use the SLF and missiles on nimble targets, and the main guns on anything I'm facing. :D
Not much escapes.

I use Clean drives 3 right now and have 0 issues in combat. I use 2 large overcharged fixed heal beams ... 1 huge gimbled multi 1 large multi and then 2med 2small multis. Only thing that is Eng are the two fixed beams. I would have to disagree that there is a ""need" for DD 5.

See funny thing with me ... i HATED they python and i much prefer the annie ... I honestly feel like it handles better too.... but ive been called crazy for that once or twice before lol

Don't forget to keep enough money aside to rebuy at least once and to be able to fill you cargo hold with Imperial Slaves

Buy an Anaconda from a Li Yong Rui controlled system and you will get a 15% discount and the insurance for replacing your ship will also go down appreciably as well.

Hi guys... Im new here & still feeling my way around!!

Ive been pure trading with the aim of buying an Anaconda & then changing to a Trader/Fighter.

Ive got £250M creds saved up so can now get a 'conda!

What would be the best combination of weapons/Hardpoints etc with that amount of money for a Trader/Fighter?

Thanks in advance!

Nah, just get mid-size ship: a Cobra III, DBE, Viper (either) maybe an Asp or Vulture and do dumb stuff with impunity! ;)

I wouldn't buy an Anaconda with only 250 mil in the bank. If you try to buy an Anaconda with only 250 million you will not be very happy, you will only be able to afford around 200 million if you want to keep at least four or five rebuys. A 200 million Anaconda is barely flyable and only suitable for trade (no combat) as it will use mostly D-grade or C-grade modules and you won't be able to afford military alloys. Essentially you will have a "disposable" Anaconda that won't be able to stand up to an equivalent high-ranked NPC and will get absolutely shredded if you're interdicted by another CMDR.

My multipurpose combat/trading Anaconda (with a 7A power plant instead of 8A) costs around 400 million credits with discount which means I had saved up around 500 million in the bank before buying one to ensure I had enough cover enough rebuys.

What I would do with 250 million is buy an outfit a well-equipped combat/trading Python which should be around 160 million with discount (with a 6A power plant instead of a 7A). Then use your new Python to make another 250 million which shouldn't take that long given it is the best medium-sized ship in the game and can access missions at outposts. Then when you've saved another 250 million you can either sell the Python and put the total 500 million into a new Anaconda, or even keep the Python and keep running missions to save up 500 million to put into the Anaconda. I would recommend this approach, even though it takes longer you will never regret having a well-equipped Python in your fleet. In fact I still fly my Python most often out of all of my ships even though I have a fully-engineered FDL, Anaconda and Corvette in my fleet.

A completely un-engineered Anaconda will still out-jump even a god-rolled Python.

No it won't, the Python will be much faster if fully engineered. My engineered Python has a 25 ly unladen jump range compared to 17 ly stock A-grade FSD. My engineered Anaconda has a 30 ly unladen jump range compared to 20 ly stock A-grade FSD. Both of them have military alloys and similar multipurpose combat/trading builds and both have approximately 50% FSD range increase. Comparing my engineered Python to an unengineerred Anaconda the Python would jump 25 ly vs. only 20 ly for the unengineered Anaconda, plus my Python has a large class 5 fuel scoop and a relatively large fuel tank for it's size, meaning it can get 6-8 jumps on a full tank compared to only 3 jumps for the Anaconda plus the Anaconda takes much longer to scoop fuel. Even comparing my fully-Engineered Python to my Anaconda, the Anaconda is only slightly faster in practice despite the longer jump range because the Python can get around double the number of jumps per tank and spends much less time scooping fuel.

Not if you can’t afford to A-rate the anaconda. C-rated? Notsomuch.

Who C rates anything? It's either A, or D for the most part. And a D rated Anaconda will indeed leave an engineered Python in the dust as far as jump range is concerned. For money making potential, there's really no comparison between the Python and Anaconda. Either for trading, or for combat.

If I convert mine over to carry 420t of cargo, I can still have 1200mj of shields, capped resists and a 32ly range fully laden with cargo.

Thats barely enough for a decent Python. Get a Python. Its the space lambo.

Absolutely agree about buying a Python instead at this point. That said, I did buy my first Anaconda with about 200 mil in the bank but used it for exploration which kept the outfitting costs down. I guess it all depends on how you want to use the ship. Head to Diaguandri for a good discount.

Thanks for all your comments in this thread!!

I think im just going to keep ploughing the trades until I have 400-500 million stashed away!

Maybe when I have another 500 million I can get a Python as a second ship haha!

The optimal build for a conda with 250 m cr is a python.
This.

Just. This.

A 250mcr Anaconda is basically a crap Anaconda.

250mcr will get you a fully A-rated and, in practice, much more useful Python. Many (actually most in my experience, but I can't generalise beyond that, hence the hedging) of the high-value haulage missions in the current build are found at outposts. I was offered 5mcr earlier tonight to haul 180t of silver 10ly to another outpost less than 600ls from the primary star. There were other juicy haulage missions on the board, but I was more interested in pushing influence than lining my pockets, so I didn't pursue them.

Nah, that's the Hauler.

The Python is more like C130/Hercules.

It’s definitely a freighter, but it’s armed like a frigate with those three large and two medium hard points. The description says that it’s still used as a patrol ship, which you can see why. They’re great in a fight against a few NPC pirates that jump you. I wouldn’t take one in a CZ though.

The t6 is the transit van...
