I have a second account that I created a long time ago just so I and a couple friends could have a meaningful Group Name. (Why can't we just name our groups something other than our CMDR name?)
Anyway, never really used the account. Just logged in long enough to create a group. Its been sitting idle for many many months.
In recently working to acquire various rares and commodities (i.e. Modular Terminals) to unlock a few engineers, I figured it might be nice to have a T9 parked somewhere which could be used to store cargo. (Something missing in the game!)
Lacking much of anything else to do in the game, I fired up the other account and worked to get that T9. Took less than a week (28 Hrs) to progress from Sidey, through Hauler, T6, and T7 to the T9. That's 28 Hrs to 105 Mil in assets (so it could have also been used to purchase a Python). The T9 has an A-Rated FSD, D-Rated modules, a bit of weaponry, a Collector Limpet controller, and a hold full of limpets.
I didn't do any cargo transfer between accounts. It was all legit game play. Didn't even do any passenger missions (long haul or otherwise). Mostly cargo delivery missions. Of course knowing what to do, how to do it and where to go was very important. Consider that its possible to average almost 4 Mil/hr starting from scratch with absolutely no rep!
(I also figured out how to launch a second copy of ED in a Hyper-V Virtual machine so I could run both accounts simultaneously and keep their data separate. I realize you can do this without using a VM, but I wanted to be sure only my primary account actually could "see" my VR gear. The second "Cargo Storage" account plays "normally" on an isolated VM)
Haven't actually stored anything in my T9 yet, but its ready for business!
