Engineers 2D Beam Laser Upgrade?



OK, I'm with the engineer, "The Dweller", I want to upgrade my Beam Lasers and I've paid the guy 500K to get in the door. Now I get grade 1 access and with the materials I buy, he can only offer either a mount stability upgrade OR (and this is the complaint) a DECREASE IN WEAPON'S DAMAGE PER SECOND.

Maybe on the second spin of the wheel, I'll get another chance to DECREASE IT FURTHER.

Summary, 500K for the introduction, 2 Phosphorus and 1 Galvanising Alloys and I get a DECREASE in not only integrity by -20% but also a -2% damange per second.

There is something inherently wrong with this picture. :mad:

If it decreases the DPS, it'll increase other stats. It's not a 100% all buff thing, somethings get reduced to.

EDIT: Unless you're saying this is bugged, in which case file a bug report.

No that's just what the level 1 mods are like. The lightweight mount (the only one most people are able to access at the start) reduces mass at the cost of integrity and DPS, which is a crap tradeoff. Funny enough sturdy mount (the only other one easily available) increases mass to boost integrity but doesn't come with any DPS penalty or bonus.

That is a great tradeoff. Lightweight mounts are meant for explorers not combat people
 
Dweller isn't really the beam man I think, he does reasonable mods on pulse lasers up to rank 3 but I think he doesn't do most beam modifications, just range increase/lightweight/heavy
 
The only weapon everyone should ever use is the Overcharged (+100% dps) Incendiary (melts shields, heats up the target and add even more damage) Multi-cannons (best velocity, best DPE, best against hull/modules, easiest weapon to use)

in comparison the beam doesn't have overcharged so no increase in damage, it doesn't have the efficient so no way to reduce energy consumption, only 2 experimentals are worth something (thermal vent and regeneration) but are again only utilitary.

Noticed in Beta, there were no real useful mods for Beamlasers.
Sturdy and lighweight mount.
Long and close range weapon.


I also never could unlock level 5 mods for a Beamlaser then.
