Still a bit salty that they never gave us at least a 2nd save slot, i guess the horse has already bolted now. Too many people have bought 2nd accounts.

A second save slot (which is all I want) could still be a possibility, as long as it was literally that - your one current game account with two slots to save commanders. If it's only a single game account, where you can't simultaneously play with both commanders it removes some of the things that a second account allows such as feeding your noob account credits and multicrewing with yourself for extra pips.
I still find it amazing they didn't include a second save slot. As I've said before, yeah the game is on sale now what, 22 months after Horizons went live? You want to play the next lot of paid for content on both accounts though, you're paying full price unless you want to wait a long time for sale. There's no way in hell I'm paying for two copies of all future expansions to keep two accounts up to date, nor am I going to be buying paint packs and so on twice. It's the one and only area where I do think they are basically taking the mickey in terms of expecting people to put their hand in their pocket.
I started a new CMDR for the same reason as you did, want to go exploring without missing out on the good stuff. I too did play only in open, no board swapping, no relogging etc, and I got 20 ingame hours as well so far. And I have to say, it has become fairly easy these days. With only missions I am now at 40 mill CR, with barely no effort at all (watching youtube and netflix on the side) - an amout I had to play several weeks for in 3301. I got my AspX fully equipped and am now collecting Farseer materials for G5 FSD, and then I'm off into the black. I really have to say, it's easy to get a start in this game now, even without all the possible shortcuts and exploits. With an AspX, you can do almost everything you want (except maybe Thargoid hunting), and that was no grind at all. I feared more of a struggle, coming from a point with the deep pockets and all the ranks maxed, but I really had not a single boring minute so far - loved every bit of it, totally worth the time (and the money as well).
FD could make a killing on additional CMDR slots like what you've described. I'd even pay $10 per additional slot. I have two accounts, but I never play them simultaneously.
I want to do something like this, but both my CMDRs are developed in particular ways for particular reasons. I don't want to reset my accounts just for that.
[hotas] I bought a second account a few days ago and am currently making the slog all the way out to Proxima Centauri to kill a pirate. This game just WAS NOT going to be happy until it tricked me into making the trip to Hutton Orbital. After all, I may as well stop in and get some mugs since I am driving all the way out here, right?

I created another account because I'm on xbox and I can, but I honestly just haven't been able to do anything with it. I only have an hour or two to play, and anytime I spend playing as Drake Glaurung is time I could be working on my Anaconda or other objectives of my primary account.
I wanted to have an account for exploration, but lately I've been thinking that I want my second account to be full on black hat, which means it will require a lot of time, which means that it would make far more sense for my primary account to break bad as I already have PvP qualtiy builds and bankroll, but I just can't see doing that to Drake Ancalagon after all this time. (Although, his namesake Ancalagon The Black does have a more infamous sounding name).
