2nd CMDR ... decisions, decisions !!

So I've just bought myself a 2nd CMDR in the sale, but not sure what to do.

I'm very tempted to play Iron Man mode, but should I limit it to Solo / Mobius ?
Or go the whole hog and play Iron Man in Open ?

And I've never done any "Pirating", but that might be too much for Iron Man + Open.

Also, I'm tempted to play and keep all my ships (rather than trading up).

Any thoughts ?

You can try "semi-iron man" my girlfriend came up with. I do it on my second account, as well.
Two simple rules.
1) Don't repair your ship. Fly her till she breaks down and then sell and buy a new one
2) When you die, don't rebuy. (Multiple ship strategy encouraged)

It's not as frustrating as Ironman can be, but it makes things interesting. Plus it keeps you in the mid-range priced ships (The most expensive ship I ever owned on my second account is a Clipper) and it doesn't force you to grind and hoard, and rather makes you enjoy whichever ship you're currently flying.

I play a form of semi-iron man too, but I only own one ship at a time and I tend to wipe my save a) if I decide my current pilot is "unlucky" b) when I end up back at Trevithic ('cos I didn't have a rebuy), c) a significant upgrade comes out, d) I'm bored with the grind (and the next module upgrade for my ship is going to cost 15 mil). I've never bothered with RNGineers or getting permits for anywhere or done much mining or exploring (yawn).

I try to earn my way to an Asp X within a month of re-starting by doing something different. The only time I gave that up as a bad job was when I tried to get there by pure piracy. I couldn't make it pay.

I was an early backer. I only have one account. If I ever buy a second account, I'll probably stick seriously to piracy.

[up] I have been playing 1 year 5 months, just got a second account myself in the sale. Screw "Iron Man".

OPEN mode yes, I can handle myself better now but just one ship? Assassination tastes better in an Eagle [arrrr] but Eagles can't haul diddly-squat on those days I want to do that so Cobra Mk. III and when I am able, I will get another Cutter, another Corvette, another FerDL, another Annie, etc . . . o7

Yen & Yang it. Go full black hat and destroy, or attempt to destroy any ship that satisfies whatever RP scenario you come up with. Definately have one, along with a full back story, but never tell anyone for any reason.
