2nd ship's - how are you using this?

I have just started playing with 2nd ships. I just wondered how you guys are using this ability.

At the moment my main ship is a cobra, worth about 1.5mill. My extra ship is small pew-pew eagles or sidewinders for a bit of cheep fun, dog fighting npc's takes longer and the insurance is lower. I worry If I get anything bigger I could wander so far away, getting back to the other ship would be a real pain.

I do wish I could go shopping for modules for the new ship in my old one already fitted ship with a decent jump range.

Did a secondary Cobra for a bit outfitted for mining but my trigger finger got a little itchy so I sold it and went back to my combat ready Cobra.

Keep your Cobra for battles and minor hauling, then grab a type 6 and fit it to 100 tons, then you have a heavy hauler for making fast money on superconductor hauling and a battle ready ship for annoying pirates. I tried out keeping a million credit Viper in my garage for a while, using it mainly at the Dahann conflict zone, and an Asp just for hauling, but I got bored and needed the money for Asp upgrades because they are quite expensive for A5 and B5 modules, about 5 million a module.
I look forward to a bigger choice of ships in the future, especially the Python and Fer De-Lance, which will require a lot of money and work in other ships just to be able to afford it. Plus in the game files somewhere is a ''Cargo Drone ship'', not sure if it will make it into the gamma, but that sounds interesting, if you could ''tow a cargo ship on auto-pilot'' behind another ship full of goods, double the money....double the trouble.

Had a Hauler and a viper for a while...thought it was a pain upgrading two ships so I part-ex'd them for a Cobra...which does both jobs and is much more fun!

To be honest I'm not really using it. I've got my original Sidewinder (with some upgrades) parked at Styx and haven't touched it since I bought my Cobra. I would probably have been better off just trading it in.
