We do not actually have elite dangerous on xbox. Sure, technically speaking we kinda do, but pc has the game now, since they are the only ones with the up-to-date version of the game. 3 years and frontier could have atleast given console a glimmer of hope such as odyssey easily. Console (xbox specifically) has been kicked around by so many game developers we're stuck playing the same games over and over like skyrim which is years old. But elite dangerous odyssey being on console STRATEGICALLY makes sense for frontier, seeing the player base would be boosted and tons more people would actually start to enjoy and discuss the game more. All i'm saying is you could have atleast gave us an honest reason or apologized for psyching us out like a tide-end in the NFL. Even if you add odyssey to xbox 3 more years from now, we don't care, as long as we get it at all. i started on XB, but i migrated my account to PC, because i like the game and not necessarily the platform
And you dont even need a PC if you really like and care about the game - you can play Odyssey on your XB using Geforce Now with a rather minimal subscription

As for reasons, you have to keep in mind they're a PLC, so most probably the reasons have financial roots, as in development costs plus the costs to run ED on console are bigger than the returns. Simple as that

There is no development on consoles anymore, and it won't start again by wishful thinking. I honestly don't understand what's not to understand here.
And the reason is financial, it's that simple. Projected development costs are higher than the projected return on investment.
You had plenty of time to migrate your CMDR, and as Northpin mentioned, you can even continue playing Odyssey on your Xbox via Geforce Now.

Fdev don't need to explain or apologise to anyone, financial situations are extremely fluid.
The most important thing for any company is to stay afloat, the days of taking financial risks are gone (unless you have huge capital resources).
When i make decisions often some folks don't like them, i don't always have time to explain, its nothing personal but profits make investment and keeps the majority in a job and able to pay rent/mortgages.
Its fine for everyone to say Fdev should have done this, it would have been easy, if it was they would have done it.
Overlook financial risks and you can dream to your hearts content from a seat in the job centre.

I wish everyone could play Ody, its level with Everquest as the best game ive ever played but money talks and dreams walk.

Not sure what's this about, but... hey, i got Elite on XB in November 2018, for 20 Euro... by the time they made it official they're dropping Odyssey for consoles, i already sunk in about 3000h or so
The return value for those 20 Euro was and still is absolutely insane - however, since i still like the game, i took FDev on their offer for a free copy of the base game and a full transfer of my commander - which was a really nice thing for them to do.

And even tho at that moment i already had 2 accounts on PC, i wanted to transfer my XB account too because it still is my most loaded account and i have no brand loyalty towards Microsoft or XBox. In other words, i care about the game not about the platform

You don't want to hear the truth, you want your preconception confirmed that Frontier dropped the consoles out of some kind of spite or malice because "they don't care about consoles". The truth has been out there for a long time. They tried, but were not able to make Odyssey run on the Xbox and PS4, and it stopped being financially viable, and maybe technically sensible. That's it. They run a business, and at some point you have to draw a line to cut your losses.

Why have the old consoles as targets? Nobody but Frontier and maybe Microsoft and Sony knows, and you will never hear it from them, because that's not your privilege. My guess is some kind of contractual obligation, but my guess is as good as anyone's.

None of that. F1 was a financial disaster, Frontier's quarterly results were a disaster and to stop the share prices tanking, they took the short term decision to halt Xbox development so they had some spare cash to pay dividends. They threw an entire community under the bus and did real harm to their future profits, just to make a line go up on a computer in London.
I have a PC, I won't be playing Elite on PC, ever. I'm not supporting a company which does that.

Ody on foot CZs are still a wreck on PC with good specs and there's plenty of pop in on planets in general with what tiny amount of foliage we do have. I'm not sure Ody on consoles would be very feasible, honestly. It technically runs on PC, but I wouldn't say it runs that well.

it will run on Xbox series X! A Nasa super computer can most likely only do 80 FPS while the Xbox series X can do 120 FPS with 8K!
