3 years of DLC

So with the aquatic DLC we rounded up this year worth of DLC. I'd argue we've seen 4 of 4 banger DLCs. Now many folk here somewhat agree that PZ will get 3-ish years of support. One year's gone, which would mean 6 more DLCs. With that in mind, and with using existing 4 + 1 model how would you complete upcoming DLC list ?

I'm going in as we aren't getting aviary pack

First two packs will have reasons why are there and if they weren't there I personally wouldn't choose them

2021:

Now that 4chan leak could be nothing, but they predicted Australian and Aquatic pack correctly, and they say we're getting deserts next

Desert pack :
-Dromedary Camel
-Emu
-Scimitar Horned Oryx
-Collared Peccary
-Thorned Devil

Now Sun Bear also got leaked. Not the biggest fan, but if it's coming, it's 99% south eastern Asian pack

SE Asian pack:
-Sun Bear
-Siamang with proper brachiating
-Bear Cat
-Malayan Tapir
-King Cobra

African Pack :
-Black Rhinoceros
-Meerkat
-African Leopard
-Cape Penguin
-Panther Chameleon

2022:

North American pack:
-Alaskan Moose
-Californian Sea Lion
-Wolverine
-Mountain Lion
-Alligator Snaping Turtle

Second SA pack:
-Maned Wolf
-Capybara
-Ocelot
-Coati Mundi
-Plummed Basilisk

Last one's purely for my soul

Greater Asian pack:
-Przewalski Wild Horse
-Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
-Japanese Crane
-Pere David's Deer
-Chinese Crocodile Lizard

And that's two years, damn, sad

Go ahead, I'd like to see how would you do it

My guess - definitely 3 packs planned for 2021, probably 3 for 2022. Beyond that, I'm not so sure. So I think saying 6 more total sounds probably but I'm hoping for one more year out of it past that.

I suspect the next five DLC will see (in no particular order except one)

Africa:
Meerkats. Absolutely. A. Must.
White Rhino (or black Rhino) - the other, and maybe only other animal that's absolutely a must.
African/Cape Penguin
Black Backed Jackal (Golden is fine instead though)
Exhibit: Black Mamba

A special note here, I know it's three fairly similar animals to what we have now but I think the meerkat is vital to be included, and I have a feeling much of the effort of such a pack would require it going towards getting them right.

Asia:
Sun Bear
Clouded Leopard
Asian Small Clawed Otter
Siamang (another Gibbon species would be acceptable though)
Exhibit: King Cobra.

December 2021 - the only one of the first five I'm putting at a certain spot. I think they'll want to enhance the game the way same they have with the Aquatic pack.

Aviaries:
Bald Eagle
Scarlet Macaw
Toucan
Marabou Stork
Exhibit animal: Kiwi. They have special needs arnd are one of the few birds I'd be okay with in exhibit format

North America:
Moose
Mountain Lion
American Black Bear
Wolverine
Exhibit: Alligator Snapping Turtle

It's amazing how close my choices here were to yours!

European Pack:
Alpine Ibex
European Badger
Iberian Lynx
Wild Boar
Exhibit animal: I'm actually a loss here. a turtle of some type maybe?

and that leads us to the final pack. It's not enough really, but if we're sticking to 3 years of the same model it's all we've got left. And I could probably come up with things I'd like to see through 2025. But yeah...dreams.

Fan Favorite pack:
African (or Amur) Leopard
California (Or Stellar) Sea Lion
Capybara
Hyacinth Macaw
Exhibit animal: Frilled Lizard

(You have no idea how I wanted to throw the wombat, the sloth, the platypus, the crested porcupines, red river hogs, coyotes, shoebills and hornbills in there some where. And more otters and penguins and foxes SIGH) Yeah, at this model, 3 years of content is NOT enough.

btw, I would probably throw the macaw off for the wombat on that last pack, but I was trying to give some geographic variety, and Australia already had one with the lizard. I easily think they could and wish they would do a full second pack for both Australia and South America (and Aquatic too now!)

Mine has some overlap with you guys' lists for sure. I'll be optimistic, and pretend it's certain that they'll make the packs one animal bigger. (It makes me sad to fill this out otherwise, lol)

April 2021: Asia

Sun Bear
Axis/Sika Deer
Red Crowned Crane
Clouded Leopard
Gibbon/Langur Monkey
Exhibit: King Cobra

August 2021: Africa

White Rhino
Fossa
Crested Porcupine
Red River Hog
Exhibit: Chameleon

December 2021: Europe

April 2022: Central America

August 2022: Aquatic Pack 2

Roosevelt Elk
Beaver
Cali Sea Lion
Alligator Snapping Turtle
Exhibit: Spotted Bat

Final Bonus Pack:

Binturong
Fennec Fox
Dromedary Camel
Indian leopard
American Alligator

idk.... something like that.

Spreading out the Central American, North American, and aquatic animals is a convenient strategy!

Personally I don't think they will mostly do continental/area packs in the future. We got scenery packs for every continent now (not counting Antarctica), and I think that was part of the reason they did it like that the first year. I still believe we will see some, but I think and hope the themes will get more creative:

South East Asia DLC:

1. Sun Bear (because of the leak)
2. Binturong
3. Lar Gibbon
4. Malayan Tapir
+5. King Cobra (We already got cobra scenery)

Domestics of the World DLC:

1. Dromedary Camel (one piece of scenery already in game)
2. Domestic Turkey
3. African Pygmy Goat
4. Alpaca
+5. Bearded Dragon (Not truly domestic, but one of the most common pet reptiles with a lot of variants breed in captivity)

North America DLC:
1. American Alligator (one piece of scenery already in game)
2. North American Porcupine
3. Moose
4. Bobcat
+ 5. Alligator Snapping Turtle

Small Mammals DLC (at least small for the game):
1. Meerkat
2. Small Clawed Otter
3. Black Tailed Prairie Dog
4. Fennec Fox
+ 5. Pygmy Marmoset
- This pack would probably add some kind of digging/tunnel system; Perhaps in the free update coming with it.

Conservation DLC:

1. White or Black Rhino (scenery already in game)
2. Przewalski's Horse
3. Wisent
4. Tasmanian Devil
+ 5. Mountain Chicken Frog

We need to add these somehow DLC:

1. California Sea Lion
2. Leopard (apparently we need more big cats)
3. Capybara
4. Red Deer
+ 5. Reticulated Python

Some last words:

This wasn't easy and ended up being a mix of my own wishes, what I believe will happen and community wishes. Still a lot of species I am sad I didn't get up there.
Most of these animals are fairly easy to base on what we already got, so I could see them make bigger packs over time.

I think we will also see a simple exhibit update at one point for free, a long side one of the DLCs. That will mainly focus on putting the existing exhibit animals into 3 sizes of exhibits and perhaps add 3-5 exhibit animals for free as well.

I also believe we will see flying birds at some point, but that was too tricky to predict.

This is going to be a bit of a challenge as there are so many different animals that would be nice to have in the game. The first four animals in each pack are habitat species and the fifth is the exhibit species. Note, these are not listed in any particular order:

Sahara Pack - A desert theme would be nice and I decided to match the theme of the first DLC pack by focussing on a single region:
  1. Addax - this critically endangered antelope would make for a great addition to the game
  2. Fennec fox - a very popular canine
  3. Rock hyrax - it might be a bit small for the habitats, but I think it would work
  4. Caracal - a popular feline
  5. Deathstalker - another scorpion to join the exhibit animals.
Indonesia Pack - Even if the sun bear hasn't been leaked, Indonesia or South-east Asia would make for a great focus of a DLC pack:
  1. Sun bear - either the Malayan or Bornean sun bear would work and I think it is a lovely species to join the game
  2. Silvery gibbon - any gibbon species would be a delight to add
  3. Lowland anoa - an endangered bovine would make for a nice addition
  4. Victoria crowned-pigeon - not the largest bird found in Indonesia, but it would be a unique bird brought to the game
  5. Pig-nosed turtle - with the addition of an aquatic exhibit, I think a turtle would be a nice addition.
North America Pack - We have a South America pack, so why not North America:
  1. Alaskan elk (moose) - the largest of the North American subspecies would be fun to have
  2. American beaver - a popular animal
  3. American alligator - there are some decorations in the game related to an alligator, so it would make sense to have it in the game
  4. Whooping crane - a large bird that nearly became extinct
  5. Mountain chicken - I realised that most of the animals I've suggested are from Canada and/or the U.S., so I went with a species outside of those countries.
Wetlands Pack - Wetlands are some of the most threatened habitats due to climate change, so a DLC pack devoted to animals found in these areas would be a good idea:
  1. Nile lechwe - a wetland antelope would be fun to have
  2. Mugger crocodile - a smaller crocodile species from southern Asia
  3. Shoebill - a unique species from Africa
  4. Capybara - an obvious choice
  5. Burmese python - a popular large snake.
Conservation Pack - Whilst there are plenty of threatened species in the game, I think it would be nice to have a DLC pack devoted entirely to endangered and critically endangered species:
  1. Eastern black rhinoceros - an African rhino would be great to have in the game
  2. Amur leopard - the most northern leopard subspecies and one of the most endangered big cats
  3. Red-shanked douc langur - there are loads of primates that could/should be added into the game, but I think a douc langur would make a nice addition
  4. Blue-billed curassow - more birds would be appreciated
  5. Bolson tortoise - a critically endangered tortoise from Mexico.
Marine Pack - I think everyone wants some more marine species:
  1. Californian sea lion - an obvious choice
  2. Caribbean manatee - a popular species
  3. Giant manta ray - not many are kept in captivity, but it would make for a nice addition
  4. Green sea turtle - again, not many are kept in captivity, but it is a popular animal
  5. Banggai cardinalfish - any small fish could work for the exhibit, but this was the first to come to mind.
This took a while to come up with all six lists and it was difficult for all of them, mainly because I had to narrow the lists down to five. There were some obvious animals for each pack, but only having five animals means that there are countless animals that I would have liked to have included but couldn't. Maybe if they made something like a conservation or marine pack, they will increase the number of animals in them to include more species. But I won't hold my breath.

I'm pretty convinced we'll see a Bird Pack in the near future but beyond that it's anyone's guess. It's too hard to even say whether they'll hold to the same DLC model. An Africa Pack, for example, doesn't really require a fleshed-out theme since we already have one, so perhaps they'll do some "animal-only packs" to cover those sorts of regions. I also don't see why everyone has jumped on the sun bear as evidence of a specifically SE Asian-themed pack - it will fit just as well in a broader "Asia Pack" which seems more like Frontier's style.

Personally I'm still hoping for some kind of Deluxe Pack that adds eight new animals to the first four DLC. Two Arctic (Muskox, Arctic fox), two South America (capybara, probably maned wolf), two Australia (Emu, Tasmanian devil), and two Aquatic (California/Steller's sea lion, African penguin). Rather than having a dedicated building set or anything it could simply come with some kind of commemorative avatar costume and a new soundtrack.

Based on the current features, 3 DLC per year, no birds:

2021:

We got the Sun bear leak, so going with that. Could be something for a later moment. Don't think it woulde be an only South East Asia.
Don't expect a revisit of older themes, but in a different way.

Asia pack:
-Sun Bear (video leak)
-Amur Leopard (I think a year after the last big cat, they will add another one - not my favorite)
-Proboscis monkey
-Water Buffalo
-Gooty sapphire ornamental Tarantula

Going with Markiz logic - 4chan and would like to see a Desert DLC.

Desert pack :
-Dromedary Camel
-Fennec fox
-Scimitar Horned Oryx
-Nine-Banded Armadillo
-Thorny Devil

Jungle pack
-Capybara
-Black and White Colobus
-Three-toed Sloth
-Binturong
-Hairy bush viper (just a random pick)

2022:

African Pack :

-Black or White Rhinoceros
-Meerkat
-Crested Porcupine
-South African Penguin
-Orange Baboon Tarantula

North American pack:
-Moose
-Sea Lion
-Alligator
-Prairie dogs
-common collared lizard

Mountain pack:
-Mountain Lion
-Alpine Ibex
-Yak
-Markhor
-Mountain Kingsnake

To follow the trend of the thread, in no particular order here's what I'd like to see to cover some of the more popular animal requests;

  • Birds. Now that Aquatics are done, I suspect we'll get birds before long.
  • Islands. A good opportunity to do some tropical animals from around the world (inc. the rumoured sun bear).
  • Africa. Probably not with a theme and maybe 6+2 animals instead of 6+1 (White rhino, addax, meerkat, red river hog, serval or caracal, grey crowned crane, panther chameleon, giant millipede).
  • Europe/'Northern Pack'. This one could cover a bunch of animals from the northern hemisphere (Iberian lynx, wolverine, moose, ibex, to name a few).
  • Marine. Cover some more aquatic animals we haven't yet seen (sea lions, non-polar penguins, something like a pelican).
  • Finale Pack. This one would basically haul out a few popular requests that never made it in (such as the Tasmanian devil, capybara, Arctic fox, and so on).

Now that 4chan leak could be nothing, but they predicted Australian and Aquatic pack correctly, and they say we're getting deserts next
If you don't mind me asking, what leak are you referring to? I haven't heard anything about a 4chan leak since the game as whole was leaked with everything else last year and I certainly can not find anything referring to a desert pack.

Leah's deleted now on the site, I've catches few people talking about it at reddit. In short they predicted Australian pack before it came out, and said that "sea" pack was coming next, surely referring to aquatic pack. Now the leak go only as far as to next dlc, detail wise. It says next is desert pack with new terraforming and path laying system in free update

A desert pack in spring doesn't make much sense for me. I want a desert pack, but it matches better the summer DLC. In spring, when the forest awakes after winter, I'd go for a forest/European/North America pack or something tropical/jungle related.

The Australia DLC was a guess for a lot of people but 4Chan info normally isn't something you ignore. Sometimes surprising how much leaked info is actually true.

And I like to see a desert pack at some point. Not much options on that biome yet.

me - googling "do meerkats live in the desert"

I won't give up trying to get them in anything that might remotely be Africa related! And it turns out they do!

That would make actually a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised at all seeing them in desert pack

Winter for me and Summer for you, I think that the warm climate pack would either be a set of expansions which could probably never happen or a more reliable proposal, an Egypt Pack with Dromedary, Fennec Foxes and Hamadryas Baboons

This would be ideal, though I do not think entirely possible. I would like for the next DLC pack to be birds just so that they could transfer some working on these mechanics after they have been perfected or completed. After, these extra resources could maybe expand the remainders of DLC. I have an original four and then an ideal expanded group if they do get larger once swimming and flying have been successfully implemented.

  1. Aviary (Don’t expect this to be first, but it is needed to allow for fuller DLC's down the road)
    1. Four Habitat (All I Expect For an initial DLC with new mechanics)

      4. Golden Eagle
    2. Exhibit
      1. American Goldfinch
  2. Filling in Africa (I Know, Africa already has so many animals, but it is hard to picture this game forcing players to go much longer without the Black or White Rhino. Admittedly, a few of these could fit in the rumored desert pack.)
    1. Four
      1. Black Rhinoceros
      2. Meerkat
      3. Fennec Fox
      4. Gelada

      4. Great Horned Owl
    3. Exhibit
      1. Western Painted Turtle
