300M Cr cruising around WP2

Which was a surprise to me as I landed at Omega Mining just now !
I got to WP2 a few days after launch, then thought about the CG and decided not to participate, so that left me time on my hands.
I thought I'd look around WP2, off the beaten track, and scan/map a few tasty treats :)
Then I hear we are at WP2 for another week, hence I extended my tour to going above and below the Galactic Plane(about 2500LYs in each direction) and across sparsely populated space.

Really enjoyed it, and once 200-300 LYs from Omega Mining I hardly saw any discovered systems. I also got familiar with the scanning and mapping systems and reported 2 or 3 bugs to FD.
Now we(2 of us) are going to go to a system way off the busy highway and 2500LYs away from Omega Mining(roughly towards SAG A*) and call it home till Sunday, exploring Biological and Geological POIs in that system, and running around in the SRV.

Here's to more exploration and fun on DW2 (yay to Erimus and the Doc,and all the other hard working DW2 organisers) :D

I took exploration break from mining, too. 500 LYs away, only some B0 star was discovered. Naturally, those shine way too bright to be left alone unless you're far out.

Since our arrival at WP02 I took to exploring the systems throughout immediate area around the CG. I even went as far out as 7000 plus LY in a nice search pattern, and found a number of earth like worlds, a lot of water worlds, and two ammonia worlds. Landed on a few worlds to look at some geo sites and pick up a few sync items. Now, I’m back at the Mining Station in preparation for WP03 departure. In the week in exploring I made a nice some of credits and finally got my second Elite. Look forward to the continued journey.

I did the exact same thing for 3 or 4 days and i feel like i've seen your name on couple of planets already!

According to Inara, my assets has also increased by 377m at that time.

Yeah, exploring the vicinity is something I'll probably be doing a lot of as well. During WP2, I did some mining, but I also did a roughly 35 kylie round-trip to attempt to put some things into the codex (which is still bugged, despite the patch notes). I kept the pace up, so only about 97M credits for that one.

I found a pair of Water Worlds and an Ammonia world in the same system only 2 jumps from Omega. Goes to show how big this game is and you have many many wonders just on our doorsteps waiting to be discovered.

7 Terraformable less then 400LYs from Omega ! :D

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, I spent about 4 hours just mapping systems with the fss, was as far as 2k from wp2, but almost always more than a few hundred away. After that I made about 8m credits, had a dozen or so first discoveries including a couple things I think were added to codex. I'm actually pretty decent at mapping though I do make a point of fully mapping each system.

Mapping everything reduces payout as it is hugely time consuming.

Lately I'm investing a lot of mindpower ;) to try and NOT scan every moon out there. I made myself a rule to scan all planets but not all moons. The downside is that not scanning all.moons you don't know if you missed some beautiful icy planet out of the plane...

Sounds like bad luck really.
