~33% drop in FPS going from 0.6 to new patch with 0.8 etc.

Judders caused by ED rendering 3 views instead of 2!

EDIT

My rig is rendering 3 views instead of two! 2 for VR plus 1 for mirrored window. Grrrrrrr!

Wondered why I was getting serious judders!

Just turned on FRAPs did my usual set of tests. (Prior to 2.0.7, I tweaked settings until on my test planet surface, I was getting 74-76 FPS.)
Now getting ~55 FPS!

Blimey!

Some serious optimization issues with either 0.8 or the new patch or of course my rig. (I notice I don't seem to need Steam VR?)

Anyone else checked FPS before and after?

Here are some screenies. I notice FRAPs is only taking the screeny from the window with 0.8 where as before it was from within the oculus. Do you think this is why I might be suffering FPS loss?

So, this version does not directly support 0.8, just like the last version. The support is through SteamVR. I'd say that the SteamVR support is better than the last update using 0.8, but it's still too much judder on my machine compared to using the old 0.6 drivers, which no longer work. Once we have the 1.3 SDK publicly available I am certain the performance will be much improved.

If you went from 0.5 or 0.6 to 0.8, you went from Oculus Extended Mode to SteamVR. A drop in performance isn't unexpected. It's what happened to me. Unfortunately, some driver update or something screwed up my 0.5 installation, so I've been forced to 0.8.

See what happens Monday when you get 1.3 with native direct Oculus support.

Set the mandatory mirror display to the highest refresh rate that you can (75Hz or greater). This smooths out some of the FPS drops.

Also, go into SteamVR and then right click > properties > betas and chose a previous version. I am currently using v1457155403, I have had judder problems on versions after that.

Just tried it, performance is just as rubbish as the latest beta. That's with a 980TI and overclocked CPU.. SteamVR is like a Virus

Edit - Am seeing worse performance with v1457155403, the newest version was released today, switching back.

It isn't a purely E: D issue. The Oculus forums are aflame with issues from multiple games and even the HMD isn't recognized on 0.8 sometimes. Expect this to take some time to fix.

Might explain why FDevs took so long to validate the new driver.
